A day in the life
Under general direction, the Janitorial Floor Tech will be responsible for the cleaning, maintenance, and restoration of all carpeted and hard surface floors throughout the facility. This role requires expertise in using specialized floor care equipment, applying industry best practices, and ensuring a clean and safe environment.
- Deliver high-quality service and professionalism, upholding the standards and integrity of the Environmental Services Department.
- Clean, maintain, and care for a variety of floor types, including tile, carpet, and brick.
- Complete assigned tasks efficiently and on schedule.
- Follow established procedures for the correct use of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
- Operate, maintain, and care for floor cleaning equipment safely and properly.
- Consistently observe safety protocols, including the use of “wet floor” signs and other precautions.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Promptly report any safety hazards or concerns.
- Responsible for all basic cleaning of interior and exterior of property
- Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, trash removal, wiping, dusting and polishing
- Cleaning of restrooms includes restocking toilet tissue and other dispensers, emptying trash, clean and sanitize fixtures, clean mirrors, spot clean partition doors and walls, sweep and mop tile floors, clean toilets and urinals, disinfect high touch areas, dust horizontal surfaces and vents
- Office Cleaning includes moving furniture, vacuuming, reposition, dust and wipe furniture, empty trash and replace liners, disinfect and dust desktops and telephones, dust cubicle partitions and cabinets
- Common area cleaning includes dust mopping, sweeping, mopping and vacuuming hard flooring and carpets, spot clean walls, disinfect high touch areas, dust vents dust window sills, and clean glass panels
- Eating area cleaning includes, dust mopping, sweeping, mopping and vacuuming hard flooring areas, disinfect counters, tables, chairs, sinks, and other fixtures, trash removal, and refill consumables
- Perform additional duties as required, including attending to flooded areas, incidental spills, and related clean-up work for trash and restroom concerns
- Restock carts and closets at the end of each shift
- Waxing, stripping, buffing floors.
- Carpet cleaning with floor equipment.
- Perform cleaning and maintenance of all floors to include tile, carpet, and brick flooring.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in floor care, janitorial, or commercial cleaning is a plus
- Knowledge of floor care techniques for various surfaces
- Familiarity with operating and maintaining floor care equipment
- Understanding of cleaning chemicals and safe usage practices
