This class is accountable for performing the full range of basic tasks in the cleaning and maintenance of buildings. The following identifies the primary and essential functions of the position and is not intended to be an exhaustive listing of all duties.

Responsibilities

Performs custodial tasks and maintenance of areas such as dormitories, classrooms, offices, auditoriums, kitchens, dining rooms and lavatories including outdoor areas (e.g. trash around buildings).

Dusts, mops, sweeps, scrubs, strips, waxes and polishes floors using appropriate equipment such as floors and other hard surfaces.

Operates polishers and buffers.

Washes, dusts and polishes glass including windows, woodwork, walls, furniture and metal equipment.

Performs minor maintenance.

Inspects buildings for damage and reports conditions to supervisor.

Replenishes disposable products such as soap and paper towels.

Cleans chalkboards/whiteboards and other classroom surfaces.

Vacuums and spot cleans carpeted areas and other fabric surfaces.

Deep cleans carpets and fabric surfaces.

Cleans and sanitizes sinks, water fountains, and/or fixture in restrooms and similar environments.

Cleans and refinishes hard surface flooring.

Removes graffiti.

Moves furniture (e.g. in classrooms and dormitories) and other items by hand or using appropriate moving devices.

Performs set-up for athletic and/or other university functions.

Maintains assigned closets and equipment in a neat, clean and safe working condition.

Performs limited or minor repairs to equipment assigned.

Sweeps walks; collects and disposes of trash.

Removes snow and ice from stairways and walkways around buildings.

Salts stairways and walkways.

Immediately reports any and all unsafe conditions and submits work order.

Reports need for repairs.

Requirements

Must be a student at Saint Xavier University.

Must be Federal Work Study Eligible.

Must include a resume and cover letter.

One (1) year of experience in work that could reasonably be expected to provide the experience and training, and knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below.
