Facility Custodian; Chicago, IL

As a Facility Custodian at New World Van Lines, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of our Headquarter facility. This position, with attention to detail and dedication to excellence, contributes to creating a positive environment for our employees and clients alike.

• Cleaning and Sanitization:
  Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting to ensure all areas of the facility are clean and presentable. Sanitize high-touch surfaces regularly to maintain a hygienic environment.
• Waste Management:
  Properly dispose of waste and recycling materials according to company guidelines. Monitor trash receptacles and replace liners as needed. Ensure compliance with waste disposal regulations.
• Maintenance and Repairs:
  Identify and report any maintenance issues or repairs needed within the facility, such as broken fixtures, leaky faucets, or malfunctioning equipment. Assist with minor repairs and maintenance tasks as directed.
• Stocking and Inventory:
  Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies, toiletries, and other facility-related items. Restock supplies as necessary to ensure adequate availability for daily operations.
• Safety and Security:
  Maintain a safe and secure environment by promptly addressing any safety hazards or security concerns. Follow established safety protocols and procedures at all times.
• Assistance with Special Projects:
  Assist with special projects or tasks as assigned by management, which may include event setup, furniture rearrangement, or other duties to support the overall functioning of the facility.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience, two (2) years, in custodial or facilities maintenance preferred.
• Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, equipment, and supplies.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Lifting up to 50 lbs and standing are required.
• Requires bending, reaching, and stretching.
• Must be able to receive and follow detailed instructions.
• Required to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time and demonstrate manual dexterity while performing job duties.
