Evening Custodian# Evening Custodian Latin Upper School - Chicago, IL 60610## Overview Salary Range $21.42 - $21.42 Hourly Position Type Full Time Education Level None Category Facilities ## Description Latin School of Chicago is seeking a reliable and skilled Evening Custodian with experience cleaning office buildings and, most preferably, schools.

* WORK SCHEDULE:

*** 3:00pm-11:30pm
* Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday
*
* JOB DUTIES:

*** Perform general, routine custodial duties, to include dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper and soap supplies.
* Perform routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies.
* Empty trash receptacles, disposes trash into compactors and/or dumpsters, and bags trash for proper disposal.
* Unlock doors, ensuring doors are locked after cleaning areas.
* Remove snow when are where is needed (shovel and blower)
* Stripping and waxing floors when needed
* Operating carpet extraction equipment when needed
* Cleaning washrooms and offices
* Snow removal when needed
* Help set up for the next day's events (moving tables, chairs, bleachers, etc.)
* Other related duties as needed and/or assigned

* High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
* Prior custodial or janitorial experience is strongly preferred
* Ability to understand and follow instructions and safety protocols
* Ability to work independently and manage assigned areas efficiently
* Basic knowledge of cleaning procedures, equipment and safety practices
* Experience using carpet extraction or similar equipment is helpful
* Basic maintenance skills to make minor repairs

* PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

*** Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (often 6–8 hours per shift)
* Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds regularly
* Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and reach frequently while cleaning floors, desks, and fixtures
* Ability to push and maneuver custodial equipment, including vacuums, floor scrubbers, and cleaning carts
* Ability to grip and use hand tools and cleaning equipment
* Ability to perform repetitive motions such as sweeping, mopping, wiping, and vacuuming
* Ability to work with cleaning chemicals safely, following established safety procedures
* Ability to work in varied indoor environments, including exposure to cleaning agents, dust, and occasional noise from equipment
