Facility Manager
The Facility Manager oversees all aspects of facility maintenance and reliability within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role maintains critical building systems, drives preventive maintenance programs, and ensures safe, compliant, and efficient operations. The Facility Manager works hands-on with mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and industrial systems while coordinating vendors and contractors to support long-term facility performance.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and support all facility systems, including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, hydraulics, and fire/security systems.
- Troubleshoot building and equipment issues to minimize downtime and ensure safe, continuous operations.
- Lead daily maintenance activities across the manufacturing facility, prioritizing work in a fast-paced environment.
- Develop, implement, and manage preventive maintenance programs to reduce equipment failures and improve reliability.
- Identify operational risks and drive continuous improvement initiatives in facility reliability and safety.
- Coordinate and oversee vendors and contractors for repairs, inspections, maintenance, and service work.
- Ensure OSHA and building code compliance through regular inspections, proper documentation, and timely corrective actions.
- Manage permits, inspections, and facility documentation to maintain regulatory and internal compliance.
- Prioritize and respond to maintenance requests, balancing urgent issues with long-term maintenance needs.
- Implement long-term corrective actions and permanent solutions rather than temporary fixes.
- Track maintenance expenses, service records, and work performed to support budgeting and planning.
- Interpret and work from blueprints and technical drawings to perform and oversee maintenance and repairs.
- Provide clear updates, status reports, and recommendations to plant leadership regarding facility conditions and needs.
Essential Skills
- At least 5 years of experience in facilities maintenance or building operations, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of industrial systems and utilities, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, HVAC, plumbing, and building maintenance.
- Hands-on experience with facility maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of industrial equipment and systems.
- Proven ability to manage and coordinate vendors and contractors for facility services and repairs.
- Demonstrated skill in developing and executing preventive maintenance programs.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities with a focus on long-term solutions.
- Capability to work independently and take initiative in a small maintenance team environment.
- Working knowledge of OSHA and building code requirements related to facilities and industrial operations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in a manufacturing facility or industrial environment.
- Background in industrial facilities maintenance, including building systems and utilities.
- Comfort working with a variety of mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems.
- Ability to effectively prioritize multiple maintenance requests in a fast-paced setting.
- Strong communication skills to provide clear updates and recommendations to leadership.
- Experience tracking maintenance expenses and service records for planning and budgeting purposes.
