The position of Part‑Time Custodian holas of Tolentine School involves performing skilled and semi‑skilled maintenance and custodial duties with minimal supervision. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance of building equipment, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, as well as cleaning, grounds, and emergency response tasks.

The person occupying this position must successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities to create a safe and healthy work environment for staff and a learning environment for students.

• Assists in the repair and maintenance of all school buildings.
• Maintains accurate equipment and maintenance records, including testing of equipment.
• Reports maintenance requests to the principal.
• Assists in snow removal operations.
• Assists with emergency situations at all school buildings, including weekend call‑ins.
• Keeps buildings clean, in an orderly condition, and in good state of repair.
• Vacuums, sweeps, mops, and scrubs classroom corridors, stairways and restrooms according to approved cleaning protocols and practices.
• Removes litter and recycling from rooms daily.
• Makes minor furniture and equipment repairs.
• Replaces burned‑out electric lamps in rooms and corridors.
• Assists in grounds maintenance.
• Assists principal and teachers with various details pertinent to the welfare of the school and the children.
• Always demonstrates professionalism and confidentiality.
• Creates and sustains positive and effective interpersonal relationships in the workplace.
• Communicates a warm, caring and respectful atmosphere to visitors, staff and community members that focus on quality customer service.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Serves as a positive role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.
• Classrooms are cleaned daily and mopped once a week. The cleaning protocol includes sweeping the floor, removing trash and other debris, wiping down desktops, and door windows.
• Hallways and staircases are swept daily and mopped once a week.
• Fennessey Hall and Hardiman Hall are swept daily and mopped once a week.
• Clean bathrooms which include all toilets and urinals, sweep floor, wipe, disinfect sinks and toilets daily, replenish soap and toilet paper. Mop floors in the boy's bathroom daily, and girl's bathroom on Monday, Wednesday and Friday of each week.
• Receive the breakfast and lunch daily and carry to Fennessey Hall.
• Receive and distribute school deliveries.

Performs skilled and semi‑skilled or manual work on maintenance/repair jobs with minimal supervision. Possesses knowledge on preventative maintenance of boilers, ventilation systems, motors, drives, and other building equipment. Possesses above‑average knowledge in electrical, plumbing, and HVAC. Professional attitude, dependable, reliable, and excellent work ethic.

Previous maintenance required. Custodial experience preferred. Strong leadership skills preferred.

School principal.

Performance shall be evaluated bi‑annually in December and June.
