Job Overview

Completes technical‑oriented service tasks of various scopes and supports in planning and managing these tasks. This position supports the Medical Linear Accelerator Systems business within the greater Chicago area. It involves customer relationship management through the effective use of technical knowledge to install, troubleshoot, service, and diagnose and treat imaging solutions at customer sites using hand tools and specialized test tools.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in on‑site service repair, preventative maintenance, field change orders/installations for Varian/SHS treatment and onboard imaging equipment.
  • Prepare work orders, parts orders, part returns, mileage logs, expense forms, timesheets and other administrative paperwork.
  • Define problems: collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpret technical instructions and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
  • Perform routine maintenance, including major STBs; diagnose and resolve moderately complex mechanical problems; perform vacuum system gun and target replacements.
  • Meet all vendor credentialing requirements necessary for client site access.
Qualifications
  • Located in the Chicago area or open to relocating.
  • Preferred BSEE/BSEET/BMET or two‑year formal education combined with appropriate high‑tech related experience.
  • At least two years of experience demonstrating repair and troubleshooting skills with electro‑mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to understand and apply electronic, mechanical and computer networking theory; read and interpret schematics and site drawings.
  • Physically capable of performing job requirements with or without accommodation.
Minimum Required Skills and Knowledge
  • Frequent use of technical documentation, standards, principles, and techniques.
  • Professional experience with electronic and electro‑mechanical engineering; testing equipment for verification/checkout and calibration.
  • Experience with micro‑computers/PC‑based systems.
  • Computer usage and debugging skills; identify routine software and network problems.
  • Identify and resolve simple imaging system defects.
  • Perform routine maintenance, including major STBs.
  • Diagnose and solve moderately complex mechanical problems, including simple vacuum leaks.
  • Perform vacuum system gun replacements and target replacements; achieve certification for C3 products.
  • Meet vendor credentialing requirements: valid , background checks, drug screens, immunizations (COVID‑19, Hep B, MMR, Varicella, Influenza, Tetanus), annual TB testing, and healthcare training.
  • Minimum HS degree or equivalent; preferred associate degree, technical/vocational training, or military experience with electronics and 2–5 years of related experience.
Other Desired Skills and Knowledge
  • Handle difficult customer situations while troubleshooting on‑site.
  • Primary support for machine accounts with completed certification.
  • Understand escalation process to senior FSR, management, NTS, PSE, applications.
  • Completed required VMS training classes for C3 products and VMS HW Level II and Imaging Level II certification.
  • Business tools experience: email, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; familiarity with HCM (e.g., Workday) or equivalent ERP product.

Must meet all vendor credentialing requirements necessary to gain client site access, including valid identification, background checks, drug screens, immunizations (COVID‑19, Hep B, MMR, Varicella, Influenza, Tetanus), annual TB testing, and healthcare training.
