• Performs all types of floor care and maintenance throughout the Hospital, including hard surfaces, and carpeting.
• Adhere to all organizational safety, risk management and infection control standards and promotes a culture of safety.
• Cleans and performs routine maintenance on floor equipment; requests assistance from Engineering Department as needed.
• Maintains accurate floor care logs and checklists.
• Operates all equipment with care and according to Hospital and manufacturers safety standards and procedures.
• Participates in Department Performance Improvement initiatives including initiatives to improve HCAHPS Scores as it relates to Hospital cleanliness.
• Performs project work and specialty tasks according to Hospital needs, such as, cleaning of stairwells, elevators, and hanging of cubicle curtains.
• Remove waste and transport to appropriate disposal area while identifying proper waste. Regulated medical, recycle, solid and hazardous.
• Follow all infection prevention practices, such as proper cleaning process, hand hygiene, standard and isolation precautions where and if required and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Recognizes and adheres to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA).
• OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.

1. Clean all areas of an assignment given by the department Manager/Lead Person according to the policies and procedures as set by the Hospital and Environmental Services Department. This cleaning is to include but is not limited to the following as assigned by schedule.

a. All patients’ rooms, furnishings, and bathrooms.

b. All visitor or guest lobbies and restrooms.

c. All ancillary departments

d. Removal of trash, cleaning of halls and carpets.

2. Completing and assisting with periodic project work.

a. Washing walls, windows.

b. Shampooing carpets

c. Buffing and maintain floors.

d. Other duties and assigned.

3. Following standard precautions as set forth by O.S.H.A. and Hospital regulations.

a. Wearing gloves, frequent hand washing.

b. Use of other personal protective equipment.

c. Understanding and following isolation procedures.

d. Needs to familiarize self with the use and protection of equipment for blood borne pathogens as stated in the OSHA Blood Borne Pathogens Standards.

4. Knowledge of chemicals, names, and use/dilutions

a. Identifies chemical by name.

b. Proper use of chemicals.

c. Knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets and where they are located.

d. How to read and understand.

5. General cleaning duties will include:

Occupied patient rooms, dismissal unit, utilities, offices laboratory, radiology, emergency room, floor refinishing, general floor care, carpet and furniture shampooing, general trash removal, red waste removal, restrooms.

6. Will use the following equipment:
High speed buffers, small scrubbers, vacuums (small and wide areas), extractors (small and wide areas), automatic floor scrubbers, wet floor scrubbers, wet floor signs, carts, ladders.

7. OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.

Must be able to read, understand and follow simple directions. High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

Interest in the welfare of the patients, ability to work while patients, visitors and staff are present. Must be able to work around unpleasant odors and illnesses.

Works with harsh and sometimes hazardous chemicals and around infectious diseases.

Pulling, bending, stooping, climbing ladders, standing on feet for long periods of time and lifting up to 50 pounds are requirements of this job. Hauling of trash of all descriptions, including sharp objects and glass.
