Erie Family Health Centers is proud to announce the opening of a new health center within the Sankofa Village Wellness Center, a cornerstone of the Sankofa Wellness Village development at the corner of Madison and Kildare in West Garfield Park (opening in early 2026). This innovative wellness village represents a transformative community investment, bringing together healthcare, housing, and community services under one vision.
The Wellness Center itself will be a state‑of‑the‑art facility providing comprehensive, affordable healthcare services, including medical, dental, and behavioral health, to patients of all ages, from newborns to seniors.

MainDuties & Responsibilities
- Perform basic level maintenance, which includes changing light bulbs and ballasts, HVAC filters/belts, routine painting and touch ups, light electrical, light plumbing, and some carpentry.
- Perform special tasks or assignments that comply with the housekeeping maintenance and cleanliness of the facility upon request.
- Set up rooms for meetings.
- Perform ground keeping, such as snow removal and salting, cutting grass and weeding, sweeping, and graffiti removal.
- Facilitate security; responding to security related calls, checking to ensure that all doors and windows are closed and locked, making routine rounds, monitoring safety hazards, and reporting any signs of vandalism to the supervisor.
- Other duties as required.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge (i.e., reading and math competency) equivalent to the completion of high school.
- Basic computer skills.
- Basic maintenance skills including electrical, the safe operation of electrical plumbing and HVAC systems and carpentry repair with a demonstrated ability to safely operate power tools.
- Ability to lift to fifty (50) pounds.
- A valid Illinois driver’s license.
- Ability to verbally communicate effectively in English.
- Basic remodeling skills.
- Knowledge of OSHA and Joint Commissions standards regarding hazardous materials and cleaning requirements.
- Good customer service skills.
- 2+ years’ experience in facilities/maintenance.
- Basic automotive maintenance skills.
- Experience in a health care environment.

This role also provides a $250 sign‑on bonus at 90 days and then another $250 at 6 months.
Compensation is based on each candidate’s experience, skills and education within the range identified for the role. Candidates who meet the minimum requirements of the role will start at entry in the range. Any additional skills, experience and education will be reflected in the compensation offered.
