Title:
Labor Foreman CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS:
Under supervision, is in charge of an assigned area within a district and is responsible for directing a crew of Laborers and other assigned workers engaged in the cleaning and maintenance of park and boulevard lawn areas. Performs related duties as required.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:- Directs the cleaning and maintenance of parks, boulevards, athletic fields, concerts, picnic and special event areas, playgrounds, beaches, lagoons, in an assigned area within a district.
- Directs and assigns duties and activities to Laborers and other workers.
- Assigns and is responsible for tools, materials, supplies, both hand and powered equipment provided for maintenance purposes.
- In winter months, plows snow, spreads salt and directs the performance of such work by Laborers and other assigned workers.
- Operates any mechanical or power-driven apparatus or equipment essential to the performance of the duties of this position.
Training and
Experience:
At least two years of experience performing manual labor work, one year of which should be in a supervisory capacity. License Requirement:
Valid State of Illinois Driver's License
- Ability to operate maintenance equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Ability to perform manual labor.
- Ability to respond to routine inquiries from the public.
