Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Township Supervisor, the full-time Parks Grounds Maintenance Worker cares for and maintains the Warren Township parks, playground, open lands, skate park, athletic fields, and facilities.
Typical Schedule:- Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Some weekends/evenings are possible.
- Paid "on call" time and overtime hours as required
- High school diploma or GED equivalency required
- 2 years of experience in facility maintenance or equivalent combination of training/certification
- Valid driver's license strongly preferred
- Must pass a criminal background check
- First Aid/CPR certification, or ability to obtain within 2 months of hire
- Maintain grounds; operate tractor-mounted mowing equipment to cut grass
- Operate various power tools, including push mowers, edgers, line trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, etc.
- Operate light power driven vehicles and equipment such as pick up trucks, buses, and carts
- Remove snow and ice; grade, plow, shovel and blow snow from public areas
- Refuel, lubricate, and make minor adjustments on equipment as necessary
- Maintain and repair facilities; perform light carpentry work, replace light bulbs, set timers, and replace furnace filters
- Prepare athletic fields per program specifications
- Clean grounds and park restrooms
- Paint park equipment and facilities as needed
- Collect and dispose of litter and trash from grounds and park areas
- Water grounds through pump irrigation system
- Inspect grounds and facilities for damage; report damage
- Set up and break down tables, chairs, and equipment in facilities and shelters
- Maintain and restock food pantry and cleaning supplies as needed
- Direct seasonal employees in park maintenance duties
- Inspect Playground
- Conduct regular inspection of playground per National Playground Safety Inspection (NPSI) guidelines
- Coordinate repairs of playground equipment and surfaces
- Supervise installation of new playground equipment
- Maintain National Playground Safety Inspection certification
- Locate Utilities
- Identify, locate, and mark the location of subsurface utilities located within Township property
- Read and interpret electronic locating unit, utility maps, and site maps to locate utility lines
- Oversee work by contractors to minimize accidental damage or disruption of service
- Maintain utility location records
- Maintain Irrigation/Sprinkler System
- Inspect and perform preventative maintenance on sprinkler and irrigation systems
- Supervise and oversee contractors to install and modify irrigation systems
- Maintain and ensure the proper operation of all sprinklers, valves, supply lines, and controllers
- Operate Equipment
- Operate machinery needed for projects
- Operate forklift and backhoe
- Maintain proper forklift certification
- Knowledge of materials, tools, and standard practices regarding grounds maintenance
- Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions for equipment
- Knowledge of OSHA and Township safety and risk management protocols
- Ability to effectively communicate, understand instructions, and follow directions
- Ability to work effectively with changes in work priorities
- Ability to work independently and complete projects by deadlines
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with co-workers, contractors, and the general public
- Ability to use computer and internet applications.

Conditions can include different types of lighting and temperatures. Weather conditions may vary when working outdoors.
