Overview

The Parish Facilities Assistant Manager supports and promotes initiatives and decisions that fulfill the mission and operations of the Parish, primarily focusing on the school building and grounds. The role is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the physical plant to provide a safe and high-quality environment for parishioners, students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities
  • Hands-on responsibility for maintenance and proper performance of the campus’s primary mechanical systems (HVAC, alarm, and security systems), and routine electrical and plumbing repairs.
  • Manage and stay current on best practices for facilities and property management, including pneumatics, HVAC design, energy and environmental practices, life safety codes (including OSHA), fire protection, disaster preparedness, elevators, and building structure integrity.
  • Identify and escalate facilities issues with suggested solutions.
  • Handle emergencies related to parish facilities and grounds in an effective and timely manner.
  • Ensure maintenance logs are current, accurate, and address identifiable problems.
  • Support policies and procedures for regulatory compliance mandated by government licensing and civic responsibilities; assist in related inspections.
  • Perform maintenance tasks such as sweeping, dusting, mopping, stripping, waxing, and vacuuming floors; remove trash; clean restrooms and replenish supplies; operate snow removal equipment.
  • Mechanical Systems
    • Conduct Emergency Light/Fire Alarm System monthly testing.
    • Conduct monthly pressure checks of fire extinguishers.
    • Assist with routine HVAC maintenance.
    • Replace light bulbs and air filters as needed.
  • Technology Infrastructure
    • Install computer cabling for desktop and wireless applications, or support external vendors.
    • Install projectors, smart boards, etc.
  • Complete minor repairs in designated buildings, including electrical, plumbing, painting and minor carpentry, and minor tuck pointing and repair of stonework.
  • Additional Duties
    • Perform preventative maintenance.
    • Setup and takedown of tables, chairs, and equipment for events.
    • Snow removal and lawn mowing.
  • Participate in staff meetings related to facilities and grounds, including meetings outside regular work hours as needed.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with all stakeholders in alignment with the mission and values of Saint Clement.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma/GED with all current licenses as required by federal, state, and local regulations for this position.
  • At least five (5) years of proven success in hands-on building maintenance.
  • Professional knowledge and experience to maintain essential equipment and supervise contracted professionals for preventive or emergency services.
  • Knowledge of NFPA fire codes, National Life Safety Code, OSHA regulations, and hazardous waste protocol.
  • Basic office and computer skills to use computerized control systems, monitor maintenance request systems, and execute online purchasing.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate professionally within the organization.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record per Archdiocese policies.
  • Ability to operate motorized equipment such as snowplows and lawn mowers.
  • Willingness to fulfill on-call, off-hour needs of the Church/School as required.
  • Physical ability to lift 50 pounds, climb to elevated areas, and perform repetitive bending, carrying, and standing.
  • Knowledge of hand and power tools, painting materials, lumber, plaster/drywall repair, and snow removal equipment.
  • Compliance with Archdiocese hiring requirements.

The Archdiocese of Chicago offers a comprehensive total rewards package. This position has an hourly range of $30.88–$34.52. Pay is based on education, qualifications, experience, skills, location, and business needs.
