Job Summary:
The Maintenance Aide performs routine maintenance, repair, and housekeeping support to ensure the nursing home is safe, clean, and in good working condition. This role assists with preventive maintenance, responds to maintenance requests, and helps maintain compliance with health and safety regulations.
Responsibilities:
Perform routine inspections of the facility and grounds.
Complete basic repairs, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting tasks.
Assist with preventive maintenance of HVAC, lighting, and mechanical equipment.
Respond promptly to maintenance work orders and emergency repair requests.
Maintain a clean, safe, and hazard-free environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
Set up and move furniture and equipment for meetings, events, and resident needs.
Remove trash, debris, snow, and ice from facility grounds as needed.
Monitor and maintain maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment.
Follow infection control, OSHA, and facility safety policies and procedures.
Report unsafe conditions and equipment malfunctions to the Maintenance Director.
Assist with emergency preparedness and disaster response activities.
Work collaboratively with nursing, housekeeping, and other departments to ensure resident comfort and safety.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Previous maintenance or building repair experience preferred.
Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems.
Ability to operate hand and power tools safely.
Strong problem-solving and time management skills.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks, including standing, bending, climbing, and walking for extended periods.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Knowledge of nursing home safety standards and regulations is a plus.
