The School Custodian plays a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment for students, staff, and community members. This position is responsible for general cleaning, basic maintenance, and building support tasks that contribute to efficient school operations. The custodian works collaboratively with the Director of Building and Grounds and school administration to ensure that all areas of the building are well‑maintained, functional, and welcoming.

• Director of Buildings and Grounds

Performance will be evaluated annually by the Director of Buildings and Grounds in accordance with District 207's support staff evaluation procedures and aligned to district priorities.

• No direct supervisory responsibilities. May provide coordination or direction to interns, vendors, and student media teams as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous custodial, maintenance, or facility operations experience preferred.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and safely move furniture, equipment, and other items as needed.
• Must be conscientious, self‑motivated, dependable, and demonstrate a strong work ethic.
• Ability to operate custodial equipment such as floor scrubbers, buffers, vacuums, and ladders.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, chemicals, and safety procedures.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and complete tasks independently with quality and efficiency.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism when interacting with staff, students, and visitors.
• Additional qualifications as determined by the Director of Buildings and Grounds and Administration.
