Job SummaryThe 3rd Shift Custodian/Maintenance Technician schedule is:
Saturday-Wednesday, 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM.
Pay: The pay rate for this position is $17.25–$17.50 per hour.
Specific Responsibilities- Maintenance/Custodial Services:
Use machines or other tools as needed to clean, renovate, and renew floor surface finishes; sweep, dry mop, wet mop, machine scrub and wax floors; sweep and shovel snow or remove debris from steps and walks; vacuum rugs and carpets; move furniture, office equipment, supplies, etc. - Provide light maintenance services such as replacing light bulbs and lubricating locks.
- Collect and dispose of debris from offices, lounges, hallways, lavatories, walks, steps, and other rooms in buildings or houses.
- Clean, dust, wash and polish furniture, exhibit cases, fixtures, doors, interior/exterior surfaces, glass, partitions, framed pictures, and related furnishings.
- Clean and service lavatories, toilet rooms, rest rooms, smoking urns, trays, and keep units stocked with soap and towels.
- Report repair problems or negative conditions to the supervisor.
- Respond to calls for emergency custodial service such as cleaning up spills, body fluids, broken glass, floods; address resident requests for linen, storage of items and/or luggage, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- All 2nd and 3rd Shift Custodians must meet eligibility requirements for Certified Drivers:
1) Have a valid driver s license;
2) Have a driving record with no more than one major moving violation or one accident in the past year (whether damaged caused either to or by the vehicle);
3) Have a driving record with no serious events. Learn more here:
Northwestern University Safe Driver Program. - Ability to stand for up to 7.5 hours, bend, climb, stoop, manipulate and operate moderately heavy equipment, climb up to five flights of stairs at one time, kneel, reach to ceilings and corners, push/pull carts and vacuums.
- Ability to lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 lb.
- Ability to transport items outdoors during all types of weather.
- Ability to perform cleaning of bodily fluids.
- Knowledge of institutional or commercial cleaning methods, techniques, cleaning chemicals, supplies and equipment.
- General knowledge of tools, equipment, and setups for use with conferences.
- Basic knowledge of activities and services necessary to efficiently provide services for conference activities.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with fellow workers, residents, and conference guests.
- Knowledge of procedures for accident reporting.
- Ability to perform duties promptly and efficiently under pressure of deadlines and with interruptions.
- Ability to be flexible to meet the needs of the residents.
- Ability to work independently and use sound judgment.
- General math comprehension.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Knowledge of hospitality industry with emphasis on quality service.
- Ability to maintain adequate attendance.
