Job Duties
- Repair and maintain doors, frames, and hinges throughout school buildings.
- Sand and refinish doors to remove scratches, paint, or surface damage.
- Repair and replace door hardware, including locks, handles, hinges, closers, and kick plates.
- Assist installing new doors, trim, shelving, and cabinetry.
- Measure, cut, and assemble wood and other materials using hand and power tools.
- Perform minor repairs to furniture, cabinets, and classroom fixtures.
- Keep tools, materials, and work areas clean and organized.
- Follow safety rules and use proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Help carpenters or maintenance staff with larger repair or remodeling projects.
- Snow removal.
- Enter school duee for building repairs and closeout when complete.
- Remove and replace window and door glass.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the administration.
- Basic knowledge or willingness to learn how to use tools such as saws, sanders, drills, screwdrivers, and measuring tapes.
- Attention to detail when sanding, fitting, and aligning doors and hardware.
- Ability to follow instructions and work safely.
- Teamwork and good communication with staff and supervisors.
- High school graduate or student (vocational or technical trade program preferred).
- Some experience with hand or power tools is helpful but not required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical work.
- Dependable and willing to learn carpentry and maintenance skills.
