Position DescriptionThe Village of La Grange Park, Illinois (pop. 13,475) is seeking an energetic and highly motivated professional for the full-time position of Maintenance Worker in Public Works. Functions of the department involve performing a variety of maintenance work in the care and upkeep of streets, parkways, water lines, sewers, and other facilities. This position is under the general supervision of the Director of Public Works.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Ability to operate hand and power tools.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery (including backhoe, end loader, and snowplow).
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor and construction work in all weather conditions.
- Ability to respond to emergencies outside of normal working hours (7:00 a.m.
-3:30 p.m.). - Ability to work in a collaborative manner for community snow removal and ice control.
- Ability to follow safe work practices.
- Promotes and maintains responsive community relations.
The Maintenance Worker must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
Minimum RequirementsApplicants must possess a CDL Class B Driver’s License with air brake endorsement or be able to obtain it within six months of employment. Prior experience in construction, maintenance, or Public Works is preferred. Possession of an Arborist License and/or a State of Illinois Class C Water License is also preferred.
SalaryMaintenance Worker I: $51,815.44 – $71,429.42
Maintenance Worker II: $57,121.62 – $78,752.13
