Reports to:
Custodial and Maintenance Building Lead;
Director of Buildings and Grounds
- Prepare surfaces for painting, including sanding, patching, scraping, cleaning, and priming walls, ceilings, doors, and trim.
- Apply paint, stain, varnish, or other finishes to interior and exterior surfaces using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
- Perform touch-ups and maintenance painting to ensure uniform color and finish.
- Match paint colors and mix paints accurately to achieve consistent results.
- Remove old paint, wallpaper, or graffiti as needed.
- Protect surrounding areas during painting projects to prevent spills or damage.
- Maintain all painting tools and equipment in clean, safe, and working condition.
- Assist with minor repairs such as patching walls, replacing hardware, or basic carpentry.
- Support event setups, furniture moving, and other general maintenance tasks.
- Report major facility or safety issues to the building lead promptly.
- Maintain organized storage of paints, supplies, and equipment.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the administration.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Proven experience as a painter in commercial, educational, or institutional settings.
- Knowledge of painting materials, techniques, surface preparation, and safety procedures.
- Ability to perform minor maintenance and support facilities operations.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Physical ability to lift, bend, climb ladders, and work on elevated surfaces.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and collaborate with other facilities staff.
- Indoor and outdoor work across classrooms, offices, hallways, gymnasiums, and exterior facility areas.
- Exposure to paints, solvents, dust, and cleaning chemicals.
- Frequent physical activity including climbing ladders, bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
- Occasional work on scaffolding or elevated platforms.
