Position SummaryWe are searching for a full-time, non-exempt Buildings Maintenance Specialist-General Trades to perform all duties pertaining to the maintenance of Park District facilities, including commercial rooftop units, boiler systems, chillers, pool equipment, lighting, and overall general building maintenance and repair.
The full-time Buildings Maintenance Specialist-General Trades must hold a valid driver’s license and be able to successfully pass a criminal background check and pre-employment physical with a drug screen. The starting pay rate for the full-time Buildings Maintenance Specialist-General Trades is $28.00 per hour.

Essential Duties- Maintain facilities by performing HVAC maintenance, general construction, plumbing, electrical, painting, and all other tasks assigned by the Buildings Department Manager.
- Diagnose and solve problems related to construction, maintenance and repairs.
- Review construction design plans and provide feedback for materials and equipment that is consistent with the District’s standards and current maintenance programs.
- Accurately estimate material quantities and budget costs to complete construction projects.
- Be familiar with current village construction codes as well as construction techniques.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance repairs throughout Park District aquatic facilities.
- Assist the Buildings Department Manager with annual Capital Improvement planning.
- Provide technical consultation to District staff on specific facility problems when required.
- Participate in the Park District’s Safety Training programs.
- Be familiar with and abide by Park District policies and procedures.
- Respond in-person for emergency night and weekend jobs when contacted. Required to participate in the emergency phone program.
- May be required to work special events from time to time at night and on the weekend.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned which may be considered essential.
- All other duties as assigned by the Buildings Department Manager, Director of Parks and Planning and/or the Executive Director. However, in an emergency, perform all other duties as required.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must possess a High School diploma or GED certificate. Technical and vocational education and training is a plus.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in one or more building or shop trades or equivalent combination of training and experience in building and facility construction maintenance.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Illinois Class C Driver's License within six (6) months of employment and maintain throughout employment with the District.
- Ability to obtain a Certified Pool Operator certification, if required.
