Position: Orland Square Mall Full Time General Maintenance Person

Maintenance Technician

Salary: $30.20/hour

Summary:

Takes actions necessary to make minor repairs, execute work orders, perform preventive maintenance and other duties as assigned to care for the facility. Procedures will be accomplished in accordance with department policies and procedures and operating manuals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (Other duties may be assigned):

  • Performs minor preventive and corrective maintenance in one or more of the following areas:
    Air conditioning, construction, electrical, general maintenance, grounds, heating, mechanical, painting, plumbing, refrigeration or ventilation.
  • Assists others with repairs and projects as assigned.
  • Uses blueprints and manuals in the performance of maintenance work, interprets written instruction, sketches and plans.
  • Knows and observes safe working conditions.
  • Maintains assigned mechanical rooms and work areas. Maintains a neat and safe work area.
  • Inventories and maintains stocking of material in an orderly fashion.
  • Evaluates and recommends orders for parts or materials needed.
  • Accurately and timely fills out work summary sheets, log books and equipment log sheets.
  • Participates in and fosters an approach to continuously improving quality that includes both intradepartmental and interdepartmental activities.
  • Uses good communication and human relations skills when dealing with co-workers, other departments and the public.
  • Maintains a high standard of personal appearance.
  • Participates in all department training.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None required.

Education/

Experience:

Must be at least 18 years of age. High school diploma or GED is required. One to three years experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Math Ability:
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Language Ability:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Computer

Skills:

Basic computer skills desired but not required.
