PM Custodian Position
Wilmette District 39 is seeking a dedicated, reliable PM Custodian to join our facilities team. The PM Custodian plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, is detail-oriented, and enjoys working in a school community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, and common areas according to district standards
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and sanitize surfaces
- Remove trash and recycling; restock supplies as needed
- Set up and break down rooms for school events and activities
- Perform light maintenance (e.g., changing light bulbs, minor repairs)
- Secure the building at the end of your shift
- Respond to urgent cleaning needs or spills promptly
- Follow all safety guidelines and district policies
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Prior custodial or cleaning experience a plus
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy
- Physically able to perform the duties of the job (lifting up to 50 lbs, standing, bending, etc.)
- Basic knowledge of cleaning equipment and chemicals
Work Schedule:
12-month position
During the school year, PM Custodians work 3:30 p.m. 11:00 p.m.
During Summer, Winter, and Spring Breaks, as well as any emergency school closing days, PM Custodians shift to a daytime schedule of 7:00 a.m. 3:30 p.m.
Compensation: $20.54/hour
Benefits for this position include access to health insurance, dental insurance, long-term disability insurance, and life insurance. Some tuition reimbursement is available for courses in the field of education. All applicable benefits can be found in the current Support Staff Union contractual bargaining agreement.
