Berlin British School gGmbH:
Berlin British School (BBS) is an independent, international English-speaking school for children aged 3 to 18 years, centrally located on three sites in the borough of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, serving the international community of Berlin-Brandenburg.

- Early Years classes take place on a secluded hill above the Secondary School site in the heart of the Grunewald, and is an ideal, secure environment for our youngest pupils. Classrooms have very recently been refurbished. The Reception and Year 1 classrooms are fitted with a smartboard.

Completely fenced and very spacious, the outdoor play area consists of a large sandpit, a roadway for bikes, tables and chairs, musical instruments, small wooden houses and lots of other play equipment suitable for 3-6 year olds.

- Primary School is based at the Dickensweg site, which used to house the British Military School. This one-storey building is now the primary school for Years 2 to 6. Each classroom is equipped with a Smartboard and has direct access to the outside playgrounds. Two music rooms allow access to an almost exhaustive choice of musical equipment. An art room has been newly set up. Design and Technology education takes place in the ICT suite where there is a PC for each child in the class. Some of the physical education programme is taught in the gymnasium adjacent to the school building. Each class spends time in the library which has a vast selection of books for the appropriate age range.

Since the Primary School is easily accessible via public transport and its hall is the biggest assembly point within the school, all school productions and musical concerts take place on these premises.

- Secondary School is situated on the northern edge of the Grunewald, Berlin’s city forest, in woodland surroundings, close to the Havel River. It has a rather special layout with four one-storey classroom blocks on the beautiful grounds. In 2009 the new Freymuth-Brumby library and science building was opened to house a spacious library, which is fitted with Apple Macs, science rooms for physics and chemistry, and the English department.

Location and Facilities:

In the ICT suite Apple Macs have been recently fitted and the art room is widely used especially by our high number of IB Art‘s students.

Sports facilities

The major sportsfield for football is on the Secondary School grounds, used extensively by the entire school for football, athletics, softball and rounders. BBS has further access to a variety of top-notch sports facilities, including the Olympic complex, where pupils learn swimming, basketball, handball, dance, and health-related exercise.

Synthetic turf pitches and clay courts close to the schools premises provide hockey and tennis facilities.
