Kid's House Nursery school, Barcelona:
Located in Sabadell, 20 km northwest of Barcelona, Catalunia in eastern Spain, Kid's House Nursery school is an international private trilingual school which teaches infants from 4 months to 3 years of age in English, Spanish and Catalan. The centre is staffed by a specialised team (including teachers with English as their mother-tongue) who use each language and culture in a totally natural way. This initiative is an educational option which combines the traditional system with references to the British system. This enables us to offer a multicultural, enriching and open educational project incorporating traditional values with an updated system close to Northern-European standards.

As a trilingual nursery school, we aim to familiarise your children with a variety of languages in a natural manner as part of a structured educational course.

During the day our English teachers give lessons in English alone, not only in the class with songs, games among other activities, but also at the dining table, in the playground or for simple tasks like asking for a glass of water. We therefore, do not just teach English, but like Spanish and Catalan, we treat it as one more language used within our school.

Language learning is undertaken in a natural way, facilitating development as much as possible.

Classes are divided into spaces or games areas where each child can play and experiment in accordance with his/her own interests. By observing each child we can get to know their tendencies, improve their creativity and encourage them to overcome their difficulties.

The formation of habits is based on daily routines to help them achieve greater independence and security, these habits must be worked on with the participation of the child’s family.

We believe that children develop their skills to the greatest extent in games activities, and we divide these games into:

1. Affective Contact Games (nursery games): (0 to 3 years) in which the teacher can transmit his/her affection and facilitate the adult-child relationship, the expression of feelings, emotional security, etc.

2. Games of Discovery and Exploration: treasure trove (6 to 12 months) and discovery games (1 to 2 years) which provided freedom of choice, respecting the rhythm of each person, promoting sensorial discovery and development, bodily co-ordination, helping to structure thought and verbal language, promoting communication and favouring personal relationships, stimulating concentration and the imagination, etc.

3. Free games: (0 to 3 years) children choose what and how to play, with who and when, this helps them to discover their surroundings and their possibilities, it shows them how to share, to learn to take turns, structure their language, and coordinate their actions with respect to the space and the material.

4. Symbolic Game: (2 to 3 years), stimulates the imagination, communication and representation, a group game with all that this entails in terms of respect and learning how to share, etc.

English
English is obviously highly important, and languages are learned with ease at an early age. Kid’s House therefore uses English as a daily language by our specialised mother-tongue English staff who will speak English and English only.

Extra classes are available in the form of workshops twice a week from 18:00 to 19:00 for pupils up to the age of 7, for both ex-pupils and children from other schools.
