Established in 1985, Hong Kong Institute of Languages is a leading language institute conveniently located in Central Hong Kong. We offer English language courses to adults, teenagers and children. Private, semi-private and small group classes are available. Our English courses include General English for beginner, intermediate and advanced levels; business English; in-house corporate training, TOEFL exam preparation and more. We provide a dynamic, communicative teaching approach and students can choose the schedule, pace and location that best suits them.

Choice of Study Options:

Private Tuition (one-to-one):
Private tuition provides you with your own teacher, your choice of schedule, class duration, class location (Institute / home / office), and even course content. You will receive the undivided attention of your teacher who will adapt your course to your personal needs and objectives. With our flexible timetable option, you can reschedule your classes with a simple phone call if you cannot attend.

Semi-Private Tuition (2-3 students):
Semi-private tuition allows you to decide on the schedule and venue of your classes, and your study partners. You can choose to form your own group with colleagues or friends, or you may ask to be grouped with other students on the same level and with the same schedule, and language objectives. The course content will be adapted to your group's needs and requests.

Small Group Classes (4-6 students) / Group classes (7-12 students):
Small Group / Group classes take place at our Institute and follow a pre-established curriculum. Students are grouped according to level and study objectives, and courses are arranged in modules with fixed start and finish dates. These classes are small enough that you still have ample opportunity to participate in class and also enjoy individual attention from your teacher. At the same time, you will get plenty of interaction and form friendships with other students. New classes start every month, and upon completion of one module you can immediately advance to the next level.

Our dynamic team of teachers is the key to our success. Our teaching team includes some of the most qualified and experienced teachers in Hong Kong and in the South China region.

All our teachers are native speakers and possess professional qualifications in teaching at Diploma, Masters or Doctorate level. Furthermore, all HKIL / HK Kidz teachers are required to have a minimum of 2-5 years of extensive experience in teaching their language to foreign students.

Most of our teachers are recruited overseas and all are very carefully selected. In addition to their strong educational background and professional teaching experience, we choose our teachers for their positive attitude, enthusiasm, and pleasant personality. They are truly motivated, and genuinely passionate about language teaching.

To ensure that all of our teachers are kept abreast of the latest teaching materials and methodologies, we also hold regular teachers' meetings, as well as professional training and development workshops.

Since 1985, the Hong Kong Institute of Languages has been at the forefront in teaching foreign languages to both adults and children. With our vast teaching experience we have enriched the lives of literally thousands of students who have come to us for a variety of reasons - to improve a second language, to prepare for language examinations, to meet professional job requirements, or simply to enhance their personal lives.

Established by a French couple, Dominique and Christian Chasset, both highly experienced language teaching specialists, the institute originally started as a French language school.

In setting-up their school, Dominique and Christian followed a strong belief that language should not be treated as a subject but as a means of communication between people, and thus that greater emphasis should be given to active class participation and interaction with the teacher and classmates.

As this could not really be achieved in a large class structure, they started the then innovative 'small class setting of 4-6 students' so as to ensure greater attention to each student and to maximise progress. The Institute quickly gained a strong reputation for quality and professionalism. Over the years, it has expanded its language services to include courses in English, German, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese and Japanese.

- We are flexible! All our courses can be adapted and developed to suit your individual corporate footprint through pre-course testing, needs analysis and client consultation, which we believe should be ongoing. Therefore, even during the course, lessons can be re-designed.
