British Curriculum / IB Boarding School in Europe

Aiglon College:
Conveniently located in the Swiss Alps region of Central Europe, Aiglon College is a co-educational, international boarding school that provides junior, senior, and International Baccalaureate (IB) education for children ages 9-18. Courses are taught in English, following the British National Curriculum in preparation for GCSEs and the IB. Currently approximately 60 nationalities are represented within the Aiglon student body, from diverse religions, languages and cultures. Many of our students are seasoned international travellers with links to more than one country.

International Boarding School Education - ages 9-18:
Our students sit a variety of International GCSE (IGCSE) exams, GCSE exams, and O Levels in the Fourth and Fifth Forms.

In Sixth Form, we follow the challenging International Baccalaureate Diploma programme (IB Diploma) to ensure access to the world’s leading universities. 

In both Junior and Senior Schools, courses are taught in English, with a high-quality ESL (English as a Second Language) programme for all non-English speakers. 

Junior School Curriculum:
The curriculum for the four junior school years is balanced between a focus on core subjects - English, Maths and Science - to ensure a firm base for later study, and exposure to a wide range of other subjects to allow pupils to develop their own interests and aptitudes. 

Most importantly of all, the teaching and the curriculum aim to ensure that pupils develop a love of learning for its own sake that will carry them through the rest of their school days and beyond.

Middle School Curriculum:
In middle school, students follow the British National Curriculum in preparation for IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) exams. The IGCSE is an internationally recognised qualification for school students, typically in the 14–16 age group, and is an international alternative to many popular national curricula.

Covering a wide range of subjects, our carefully designed junior school curriculum leads on to a middle school curriculum where pupils start to specialise. In the third form, students have the opportunity to study a wide range of subjects in preparation for the IGCSE examination courses to come.

At the end of the third form, pupils have a number of choices to make as they start on the two year IGCSE programme which runs through the fourth and fifth years. For IGCSE, pupils study a number of core subjects, including Maths and English, but they also have the opportunity to take some elective courses. 

Sixth Form Curriculum - IB Diploma Programme:
For the final two years of school, Sixth Form students study the IB Diploma Programme. The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma programme is recognised by all major universities and graduates of the programme regularly gain admission to the most selective higher education institutions in the world. 

Students select six subjects to study: three at the higher level and three at the standard level. Subjects include:

- Art, Biology, Chemistry, Drama and Theatre, Economics and Business Studies, English Language, English Literature, French, Geography, German, History, ICT/Computing, Mathematics, Media Studies, Music, Philosophy, Physical Education, Physics, Space Science, Spanish
