The New America International School, Denver:
Welcome to The New America School’s International High School located in Denver, Colorado. The New America International High School was created to serve F1 students who want to learn and advance their English skills, as well as experience an America High School program. The program helps students earn their American high school diploma, and positions them for post-secondary education. At The New America School, you will improve and perfect your language skills by taking special classes in English, math, science, U.S. history and other courses. New America School teachers are experts at teaching English to non-native English speakers. They use specialized techniques that integrate English throughout the curriculum and to give International students the attention they deserve.
The mission of The New America International High School (NAS) is to offer F1 visa students the educational tools and support they need to learn English and earn an American high school diploma, while experiencing the American way of life.
The New America School’s International Visa Student program allows qualified students to earn their high school diploma in only one year of study, and positions them to go on to American colleges and universities. Qualified students are usually those at the Intermediate English level and who have already earned a diploma in their home country. Students with less English proficiency and fewer high school credits can still graduate but it might take longer than one year. Students who graduate from an American high school can have a higher chance of being accepted to an American college or university than International students who apply directly without an American education.
NAS is a system of public charter high schools dedicated to serving a unique population—immigrants who want to learn English and earn their high school diploma.
We are a fully accredited, public institution that serves young adults, ages 15-21. Our highly qualified staff provides intensive English language instruction and a rigorous academic curriculum to help students fulfill their dream of a better future.
At NAS we believe educational opportunity is a cornerstone of American life and that English language skills are an essential component.
With an American High School Diploma the majority of US universities and colleges waive the TOEFL exam for F1 students. The F1 students who receive their US high school diploma have a greater advantage of being accepted into US universities and colleges than a student applying directly from his/her country.
Other NAS benefits:
- Modern classrooms, many with Smart Boards and advanced technology.
- Computer labs available to students.
- Free internet access.
- Caring, high quality American teachers who specialize in teaching English as a Second Language
The New America International High School was founded in 2006 by philanthropist and educational activist Jared Polis, along with several leaders in the metro Denver community.
There are three metro Denver campuses open to F1 students. We currently have students from Russia, Tajikistan, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Morocco, Ghana, South Korea, and Mongolia. In the future we hope to have students from every country throughout the world.
