Italian Language Courses in Modena, Italy

Romanica - Accademia Italiana di Lingua e Cultura:
Romanica is an Italian language school in Modena, in the Emilia-Romagna region of Northern Italy. Modena is located approximately 200 miles from Rome and 100 miles from Milan. Since 1998, Romanica has offered Italian courses to students of all ages and all nationalities, as well as a rich variety of activities during students’ free time.

Our Italian courses include:

Intensive Italian Courses in Group (20 hours weekly):
Courses begin on Mondays with an accurate placement test which allows us to evaluate your familiarity with the language and to form classes composed of students all at the same level. There are five levels in all: beginners, elementary, intermediate I, intermediate II and advanced. Courses run from two weeks to twelve months. Students that apply have to be at least aged 12. The classes are composed of a maximum of 12 students of diverse nationalities. Each group works with two teachers, and the lessons are conducted exclusively in Italian.

The four hours spent daily in the classroom are divided as follows:
- grammatical structure and vocabulary
- expression and conversation.

The lessons run for 55 minutes each. Every fifteen days, there is a test to assess the students’ progress, as well as to assure the continued homogeneity of each level. The constant contact between students and teachers and the particular flexibility of our teaching methods facilitate a real and intense encounter with the Italian language.

In order to stimulate and improve the communicative abilities of each student, we work with specially selected texts, exercises, articles, literary extracts, games, role plays, songs, cartoons, videos etc.

Semi-Intensive Italian Courses in Group (10 hours weekly):
The group course of 10 hours is composed of 2 daily classroom hours from Monday to Friday, which can be chosen between: grammatical structure + vocabulary (from 9 to 11) and expression and conversation (from 11 to 13). It is possible to change from one class to another only every two weeks.

Individual Italian Courses / Private Italian Lessons:
Every student has specific interests and rhythms. The individual courses are organized, for the subject and the timetable, following the specific needs of the students. So, we organize individual courses in general Italian as well as specific Italian courses in literature, art, business and commercial Italian, tourism, Italian for systematic study, translations, and courses for teachers of Italian as a foreign language. In addition, we offer lessons specifically designed to prepare you for language knowledge certification exams (AIL, CELI and CILS), admission exams to an Italian university and university language exams. It is also possible to combine the private lessons with a course in group.

Small Group Italian Courses:
The small group courses are indicated for 2 or 3 students knowing each other and having the same level of knowledge of the language, who would like to study together and reach the same goals. The small group courses have, for the schedule time, the same flexibility than individual courses.

Twice-weekly Italian Classes:
The twice a week courses are intended for students who already have a discrete knowledge of the Italian language or who can dedicate an extended period of time to language studies. These courses meet twice a week (each classroom hour lasts 60 minutes). The number of the daily classroom hours depends on the number of the students in one group:

1 student = 1 hour per day (2 hours per week)
2 to 3 students = 1 hour 30 minutes per day (3 hours per week)
4 to 6 students = 2 hours per day (4 hours per week)
7 to 10 students = 3 hours per day (6 hours per week)
