Sacred Heart Cathedral School:
Sacred Heart Cathedral School, located in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina, is a private Catholic school offering grades Pre-K through 8. Cathedral School maintains its tradition of academic excellence today. Students have always been and continue to be its focus. Faculty are dedicated to providing a positive learning experience for the children they teach. Cathedral provides students with the academic and social skills they need to be successful people and good citizens.

For 100 years, we have proudly served students in the capital city. In 2007, we were awarded a National Blue Ribbon of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education. We have attained accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in 2001 and 2006. On the most recent administration of the Iowa Achievement Tests, every class tested scored at the 99th percentile when compared to students nationally. Our Science Olympiad Team remains competitive at both the local and state levels.

Our History:
Cathedral School, which was founded in 1909, began in a two-room schoolhouse. It moved to its present facility in 1939. It originally served as the elementary, middle, and high school of the Raleigh Diocese. During the 1960’s, because of the construction of other schools, Cathedral became an elementary school exclusively. In 1991, an all-day pre-kindergarten program was added to the school. Today Cathedral School serves 270 students in pre-K through 8th grade.

Our Catholic Identity:
It is a great responsibility to raise children in our Catholic faith. We take this very seriously and make every effort each day to weave our Catholic Identity into instruction and our interactions with each other. We expect it to be obvious that our students have spent time with us. It is our hope that the “Cathedral Experience” will remain with them for a lifetime.
