Academic Programs for Grades 6-12:

Cal Coast Academy's academic courses meet the requirements for graduation in the State of California and for acceptance into the University of California ("A - G requirements"). We also offer Honors ("H") and Advanced Placement ("AP") academic courses that meet the UC subject area requirements.

Required Credits:
- English:  40 credits, 4 years (English 9, 10, 11, 12)
- Mathematics:  30 credits, 3 years (Algebra I required)
- Social Studies:  30 credits, 3 years (World History, US History, Government & Economics)
- Science:  20 credits, 2 years (1 year Biological & 1 year Physical)
- PE:  20 credits, 2 years
- Health:  5 credits, 1 semester
- Practical Arts:  5 credits, 1 semester
- Visual & Performing Arts:  10 credits, 1 year
- Electives:  70 credits (30 credits must be from a World Language)

Honors Courses:
Cal Coast Academy's honors classes offer a more advanced curriculum than our regular courses and are tailored for high achieving students. Our honors classes cover additional topics and some topics in greater depth.

Advanced Placement (AP) Courses:
Cal Coast Academy's Advanced Placement classes cover subject course content, skills, and assignments according to college course standards. We align with the standards and expectations offered at the college level. Cal Coast Academy's Advanced Placement classes provide our motivated and academically prepared students with the opportunity to study and learn at the college level.

Homework Help Program:
Our school provides a teacher-directed 2 hour homework study for students and parents who deem the assistance to be necessary. Organizational and time-management skills are integrated into the study time while teachers answer questions and expose students to a re-teaching of any concept(s) requiring clarification. Students also receive assistance with study skills and test preparation. Our Homework Help is offered Monday through Friday from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

College Counseling:
The College Counseling Office works with students and their families to guide them through the college search and application process. As a college preparatory school, our curriculum is structured in order to prepare all students for success at the college or university they ultimately choose.

Lycée Français La Pérouse, Bay Area

The Lycée is a PK to 12th grade college preparatory school in the San Francisco Bay Area which is based on the French national curriculum augmented by courses in American History, English Literature and Visual Arts. It provides a challenging educational environment, emphasizing academic achievement leading to the French Baccalaureate.

Geokids / Menlo Survey Child Development Center

The GeoKids / Menlo Survey Child Development Center is an accredited, nationally recognized, non-profit parent co-operative providing high quality child care for children aged 3 months through to pre-kindergarten (5 years). The center is located on the Menlo Park, CA campus of the United States Geological Survey (USGS) in San Mateo County, and is supported in part by the General Services Administration (GSA) and the USGS.

GeoKids is a developmental play-based program founded on the belief that children are capable, competent, self-motivated learners. Within our program, adults encourage children to participate in everything that concerns them and to do as much as they are capable of doing for themselves.

Coastal Children's Learning Center
Courses / Programs
Located in Costa Mesa, Orange County CA, Coastal Children's Learning Center provides preschool and Pre-K classes for children ages 18 months to 6 years. Our program is a learn-through-play, developmental course which follows the High Scope Curriculum. We are licensed for 39 children and have 8 staff members, and strive to maintain a low ratio of 1:8. We also offer a day care service.

We believe that learning is most effective for children when it is provided through ‘play’. Play is the child’s work, where education is life. With this in mind, we will provide intellectual stimulation through a variety of new experiences where the teacher becomes a facilitator to problem solving in each child’s world.
