Why Choose LePort Schools?

- Structured Academic Curriculum
We teach essential knowledge content sequentially – including literature, history, mathematics and science – and offer systematic instruction in the key language arts skills of spelling, vocabulary, grammar & writing. We present knowledge as an exciting discovery of the world, so that learning is like a detective story in which each lesson involves grasping a new and interesting twist. We make the material itself engaging rather than relying heavily on extrinsic rewards like grades, or on “hands-on,” “fun” projects that distract, rather than add, to the child’s learning of essential, applied knowledge.

- Professional, Expert Teachers
In contrast to most other schools, which operate on a “homeroom” model, where one teacher teaches all subjects for one year, we hire subject matter experts in each field. For example, our history teachers actually know and love history – and stay with your child over several years to ensure that your child experiences history as an exciting, integrated story, where this year’s learning builds upon and reinforces the prior years’ work. We selectively hire interesting, passionate people who enjoy learning and life, and can pass that positive attitude on to your child.

- Safe, Nurturing Environment
From our spacious, clean Montessori classrooms, to our carefully selective, sequentially taught curriculum in the upper grades; from our small class sizes to our supervised recess environment; from our many field trips to our special school events and spirit days: nothing at LePort is accidental. We understand that a key part of our role as educators is providing an environment where your child can thrive.

Montessori, Pre-School & Elementary School Programs:

At LePort, we understand that deep knowledge and strong thinking skills are a foundation upon which to educate the whole child. Both inside and outside the classroom, we guide our students as they build strength of character and learn personal, social and life skills. Our graduates are children who have developed a strong sense of personal identity: they have learned to act in pursuit of their chosen goals, and have developed goals they're motivated to pursue.

Our programs for kids ages 3 months to 8 years include:

- Mommy & Me toddler classes
- Pre-Kindergarten program
- Primary program
- Lower Elementary program (1st - 3rd Grade)

"My son has been in this school for almost a year. He really loves this school and his teacher. The staff members are very approachable too. My son has been enjoying his time in school and he has also been learning a lot of things. Everything is well organized and his teacher is one of the most talented and understanding teachers I have ever met. I would definitely recommend this Montessori."

"I am a parent of two and this was my first time looking for a pre-school for my 4-year-old daughter. I am very lucky to find a school that has a comprehensive curriculum and fine staff members. There are many positives that the Montessori has brought to my child and I will continue to keep her here as long as I can. The teachers are committed to providing the children with quality and advanced work as well as a very trusting environment. I love LePort Montessori schools!"

"When our daughter turned 2, we needed to find a school for her. Our daughter attends the preschool class and loves going to school every day. She can’t wait to tell me about her day at school. Her teacher is everything the last parent’s post mentions. She IS truly one-in-a-million. We really owe the growth in our daughter’s maturity, independence and intellect to her. I would not hesitate in recommending LePort to other parents."

Laurel Hill Nursery School, San Francisco
Courses / Programs
Established in 1946 and set in the heart of San Francisco in the Laurel Heights area, Laurel Hill is the oldest parent-participation, cooperative nursery school in San Francisco. Our philosophy is child-centered and is focused on building a child's self esteem through socialization and play. While there is no strict academic program at Laurel Hill, our children thrive in an environment that lets them learn organically. Laurel Hill is the largest co-op nursery school in the Bay Area, with approximately 80 families enrolled. We currently have a staff of 8 teachers, and with parent participation our adult-to-child ratio is roughly 1 to 5.

Families who become members of the co-op need to fulfill participation responsibilities, and by doing so allow us to offer an unrivaled experience at extremely affordable rates. But more important than the financial benefits, by participating at Laurel Hill, you'll connect with an incredible group of families, you'll know your children's friends and teachers intimately, and you'll have the satisfaction of being truly involved in your child's first foray into the school environment.
- Nursery School Program: We follow a child-centered philosophy of early childhood education for ages 2 years 9 months to 5 years. Children are allowed to learn through play and by exploring their environment at their own developmental pace.

- Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K) Program: Our Pre-K curriculum is tailored to the needs of young 5 year olds, while still adhering to our child-focused philosophy.
