About Us:

Montessori Scotts Valley first opened its doors for children in September 2003. Specially trained Head Teachers and Assistant Teachers staff our school. All Head Teachers hold a Bachelor’s degree as well as a teaching diploma from the Association Montessori Internationale, the original overseeing organization established by Dr. Maria Montessori.

Each child at Montessori Scotts Valley is actively supported in the self-directed pursuit of lifelong intellectual, emotional, and spiritual growth. Some families appreciate the children's joyful learning, others enjoy the beautiful indoor and outdoor children's environments, and many thrive in our warm community. We serve children using the philosophy and curriculum developed by Dr. Maria Montessori. Montessori education provides an education for life.

Montessori Programs:

- Nido (Infants) program:  This program serves infants from 6 weeks of age to 18 months.

- Toddlers program
:  The Puffins, our toddler class, serves children from 18 months through to 3 years.

- Primary programs
:  At three years, sometimes earlier, children are ready to join one of our two Primary - preschool - environments, the Otters / Dolphins, where they will stay for 3 years and through Kindergarten.

- Summer programs
:  These are a great way to continue your child's Montessori education.

Montessori Environment:
A Montessori environment is a child-centered environment in which children learn real life knowledge through active exploration with Montessori materials. In this prepared environment, the furniture and materials are child-sized and the aesthetic beauty and order of the room provide an environment where children are comfortable, safe, and excited to learn.

The materials in a Montessori environment are specially designed to meet children’s unique developmental needs.

Parents Club:

The Montessori Scotts Valley community includes an active parent community. Our Parents Club plans many events throughout the year and assists in many aspects of the school to promote a positive environment for children and to enhance our community. The purpose of the parents club is to work on common goals of the school to further enhance the learning environment, communications and relationships of the MSV community.

Past activities have included planning school events and family activities, organizing teacher appreciation, taking photos, creating the yearbook and year-end DVD, and making classroom materials.
