The Broach School:
With 4 locations in the Greater Tampa Bay area, The Broach School is is a private K-12, non-profit special education school for children with specific learning disabilities (SLD) and autism. The Broach School was started in 1973 to meet the ever-increasing need for quality personalized instruction. Our School was founded to help students who were getting lost in overcrowded classrooms by giving each one the complete, personal attention of their teacher. Today, The Broach School is continuing to reach new heights by helping students overcome learning disabilities and gain confidence in the classroom.
Pre-K - 12th Grade Education for Children with Learning Disabilities (SLD)
The Broach School models the 1-room schoolhouse method of early American education for children with specific learning disabilities (SLD) and autism.
Each course is designed to take students from a point of weakness to a point of strength. Students are taught personally in small groups to ensure every student can proceed at their own pace without losing the value of a shared classroom experience. School features include:
- Hands-on active learning approach that includes field trips, speakers, and special projects
- Students are taught personally in small groups
- Assignments generally completed at school, eliminating parent frustration in supervising homework
- Summer School and Private Tutoring also available
Grading System:
Progress reports are issued every mid-marking period and are also given at report card time for any grades below "C." Report cards are mailed home every quarter, with the quarter grade for each subject determined by averaging grades (based on the student's progress in performing on functioning level):
1/3 = Class Work
1/3 = Chapter Tests/Projects
1/3 = Classroom Participation/Effort
