We admit students of any race, color, and national or ethnic origin. San Antonio Academy offers an exceptional academic program for Pre-K - Grade 8 that features small classes in a quality learning environment, a family-like atmosphere, the development of a positive self-image and a foundation for life, based upon the love of God and country, integrity and respect for each other.
San Antonio Academy is accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS), and is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS).
Quality Education:
Student performance on national testing including the SAT, the college entrance exam, has placed the academy on the national stage. Academy graduates excel in high school, both locally and at some of the nation's most respected preparatory schools like Andover and McCallie and many graduates are elected to positions of leadership.
We offer small classes with an average of 16-17 boys per academic section, and an enrolment of 340 boys. We have a 10:1 student - teacher ratio. Our highly committed, hard-working faculty and staff take pride in offering a challenging curriculum and in providing individual attention to all students.
- Our curriculum provides our boys with a strong foundation of academic skills in elementary school. Students study reading, language arts, social studies, math, science, and foreign languages.
- Fine arts, music, integrated technology, library / research skills and physical education broaden their perspective.
- Our program reinforces traditional values, such as love of God and country, kindness and integrity.
- After school activities: A wide array of activities are available including computer lab, music, athletics, library, chess, tutorials and enrichment classes. These activities give our boys another opportunity to grow and learn.
- Military program: This is a mandatory upper school extra-curricular activity.
The athletic program is divided into two groups: competitive sports, and physical education. Academy students take physical education as a part of the school's curriculum, where physical fitness and self-discipline are emphasized. Most students take P.E. four times each week; two classes emphasize physical fitness, including conditioning and flexibility exercises, testing and games, which require running and movement.
The other two classes emphasize specific sports such as soccer, football, basketball and softball. Basic skills used in other sports, such as track and volleyball, are also taught and practiced
