Bromsgrove International School Thailand, Bangkok:
Bromsgrove International School located in Bangkok, southern Thailand is affiliated with Bromsgrove School in England. BSUK is one of the top five UK co-educational boarding schools and is keen to ensure that Bromsgrove International School Thailand maintains the same high standards.
Early Years Programme:
Welcome to our Early Years' School. We are conveniently located amidst quality residential areas on Ramkamhaeng 164 Road. It is dedicated to providing first-class Early Years education for children from 2-7 years old and ideally separated from the main campus and the older students.
We have a friendly, family-like atmosphere that educates even the youngest children to love school by learning different things in different ways – with the emphasis on care, share and fun.
As a team we nurture each child and support each learning experience helping him or her to explore, investigate, discover and create. This makes for a happy foundation stage education. We deliver the British National Curriculum but with a big difference: we make it enjoyable and culturally acceptable.
Young children are the future. At Bromsgrove Early Years School we endeavour to make each child feel like an individual who has the same opportunities and experiences that they would receive in a traditional British independent school. Each learning experience is carefully planned and organised to challenge each child’s imagination, skills and thoughts. The teachers are flexible and sensitive in their teaching so that each learning experience is given at the right stage of each child’s changing needs and demands.
Primary School:
Students enter the Primary school in Year 3 at the age of 7 and stay until Year 6 at age 11. At the heart of any good school must be an experienced teaching staff. It is the School's policy to appoint academic staff who are well qualified, highly motivated, able, enthusiastic and interested in their pupils. Sound study skills are instilled and encouraged and pupils are taught to become independent learners.
The broad curriculum is based on the English National Curriculum and the Literacy and Numeracy Strategies are also taught. However, the curriculum and strategies have been adapted to meet the needs of our international student body. The school puts an emphasis on practical learning and aims to lay the foundation of knowledge and understanding which will enable children to develop with confidence. The children are involved in a broad range of extra curricular activities which give them an opportunity to experience the spirit of being a team member or help them to develop new skills.
Senior School:
Students in the Senior School are generally aged from 11 to 18 years. The School's aim is to promote academic excellence and provide the right framework for each pupil to fulfill his or her academic potential. Pupils are supported, encouraged and guided to obtain the best possible qualifications. The low teacher:pupil ratio enables teachers to pay close attention to individual academic development. Pupils are expected to master basic academic disciplines and develop sound study skills and an appropriate work ethic. The atmosphere within all classrooms is positive; pupils participate actively in their own learning and support the learning of others. Pupils are also encouraged to value creativity, originality and independence of thought, but above all a love of learning and a genuine spirit of enquiry.
Key Stage 3 - Years 7, 8 & 9 (Age 11 – 14 years)
The academic programme follows the National Curriculum but is not limited by it. In Key Stage 3, all pupils study a wide range of subjects, including English, Mathematics, ICT, Science, Thai, Art & Design, Chinese, Design Technology, Geography, History, Music, Physical Education and PSHCE.
At the end of Year 9, all pupils have the opportunity to select the subjects that they would like to study at IGCSE. This options process is done in consultation with pupils, parents. The options system is very flexible and puts pupils' personal needs first.
Key Stage 4 – IGCSE, Years 10 & 11 (Age 14 - 16 years)
The IGCSEs are a two year course culminating in internationally recognised qualifications. The programme consists of a combination of ‘core’ subjects and ‘optional’ subjects. The core subjects are English, English Literature, Mathematics, ICT, Science, PE and PSHCE. (Thai nationals must also study Thai). In addition to the core subjects, pupils may also choose three subjects from a wide range of options, including Art & Design, Business Studies, Chinese, Design Technology, Geography, History, Music, Physical Education, Sociology and Thai.
Key Stage 5 - The Sixth Form, Years 12 & 13 (Age 16 - 18 years)
In the Sixth Form most pupils choose four AS Level subjects for study in Year 12, reducing to three A2 Level subjects in Year 13. The subject choices are made in consultation with parents and teachers. Pupils also take courses in General Studies and PSHCE which ensure that Sixth Form work does not become too narrow in its range.
