Image of The Outward Bound Trust The Outward Bound Trust:
The Outward Bound Trust is the UK's leading provider of authentic outdoor adventures for young people (11-24 yr olds). With four great centres in some of the UK’s most beautiful and stunning locations - Aberdovey in Snowdonia, Wales; Ullswater and Howtown in The Lake District, England; and Loch Eil in The Scottish Highlands - there’s plenty on our doorsteps to excite, challenge, motivate and engage participants. We take young people out into the fells, lakes, mountains and lochs, under the constant guidance and expert supervision of our outstanding outdoor instructors. Kayaking on the Dovey estuary, climbing Ben Nevis, camping overnight in the Lake District, sailing on Lake Ullswater or journeying across the Highlands by canoe and on foot, are just some of the challenging activities and real adventures that young people will take part in. It’s a great way to make new friends and meet people from all walks of life, both from the UK and abroad.

Our residential courses run throughout the summer, with a choice of either 1-week activity and adventure courses or 3-week expedition and wilderness journeys.

The safety of our course participants is of paramount importance to us. We have been welcoming young people to our centres and accompanying them on adventurous journeys in the wild for over 65 year and have accumulated considerable experience in managing all aspects of safety and enjoy an enviable record in this area. We comply fully with all relevant legislation and all of our centres are licensed under the Adventure Activities Licensing Scheme 1996. We also offer financial assistance to those who need help paying for a course – currently over 50% of participants get part of the course fees paid for them.
