Mary Johnson Children's Center:
Situated in Middlebury VT, Mary Johnson Children's Center is a leader in early childhood education both in the county and in Vermont state. The Center is home to several programs which support children and families. Reflecting the goals of its founders, the Center strives to meet the needs of working parents and families who use the Center to represent the economic and cultural diversity of our community. As a school, we believe in making visible and giving voice to the rich potential and talent of children, and in the right of all children to have an environment where this talent and potential is respected and nourished.
Our Early Childhood Program is housed in a renovated and expanded 19th century farmhouse that reflects the Center’s belief in the importance of beauty, light, the environment and natural materials in the lives of young children. The Center’s early childhood program serves children 18 months to 5 years. Staff and children “loop” together, thus children are with the same core staff members throughout their years at the Center. Families may choose a three, four or five day program.
