Situated in Middlebury VT, Mary Johnson Children's Center is a leader in early childhood education both in the county and in Vermont state. The Center is home to several programs which support children and families. NAEYC-Accredited Preschool Programs for Children Ages 18 months to 5 years:
The Early Childhood Program is housed in a renovated and expanded 19th century farmhouse that reflects the Center’s belief in the importance of beauty, light, the environment and natural materials in the lives of young children. The Center’s early childhood program serves children 18 months to 5 years. Staff and children “loop” together, thus children are with the same core staff members throughout their years at the Center. Families may choose a three, four or five day program.
The Center’s programs are not conventional or fixed, but support the importance of play and evolve depending upon the interests of children, teachers and families. We believe that parents are the experts on their children. We believe that teachers are collaborators, researchers and nurturers who are dedicated to supporting children and parents. We believe in the extraordinary capability and intelligence of children.
