About Our Founder:
The founder of Teaching English in Italy, Sheila Corwin, has a lot of experience visiting, living, and working in Italy as not only a tourist, but an English language teacher and teacher trainer. She first came to Italy in 1984, where she spent the summer with an Italian family in the city of Parma as an exchange student. She later discovered that she had distant relatives in the Italian region of Liguria and made frequent trips to visit them in the years that followed. In 2002, she pursued her dream of living in Italy and worked in a private language school, teaching English in the city of Florence, for two years.
After deciding to settle in Florence, Italy, permanently, in 2007, Sheila served as academic director and principal trainer for a teacher training and cultural center that offers an ongoing four-week TEFL certificate course. Sheila holds an MA TESOL. Her goal is to provide training options and teaching opportunities to others who dream of teaching English in Italy.

We are an examination and training centre for LCCI International Qualifications issued by EDI. Located in the centre of Milan in Northern Italy, IH Milan offers the internationally recognised CELTA course. Classes are taught according to IH World’s rigorous and industry-wide recognised high standards. The CELTA course is pre-service so it is primarily aimed at people with little or no teaching experience. It is also suitable for teachers who have teaching experience but who have had little or no formal training. It is considered to be a solid foundation for teaching English as a foreign language. The course is recognised by EFL organisations worldwide and the certificate is the most highly respected of its kind in the world. Candidates must be at least 18 years old. The course is open to native and non-native speakers of English but applicants must have an awareness of language and a competence in English, both written and spoken, that enables them to follow the course and teach English.
