Rabat, one of Morocco's 4 imperial cities and current capital, is located on the Atlantic Ocean at the mouth of the Bou Regreg River. Rabat is more cosmopolitan than many of the more touristic cities in Morocco. There is considerably less hustle and bustle and although it is the second largest city in Morocco, it manages to avoid the gritty, big-city feel. The city includes everything from Roman ruins to shopping malls to beaches and forests. It is easy to move around the city thanks to a great system of buses, taxis and a new tram way system.
