About our TEFL/TESOL Program:

It is a 120 academic hour interactive International TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) / TESOL (Teaching English to students of other languages) Certificate Course that is an efficient, active and participatory way to learn to teach english as foreign language world - wide. It also includes 10 hours of class observation and 10 hours of real classroom teaching. It is the most widely recognized international qualification for English teachers. The TEFL course will equip you with the necessary tools to teach all ages, all levels and all nationalities. By the time you graduate, you will have had plenty of teaching practice to give you the necessary hands-on experience to teach english as a foreign language. This 8 module course takes you through the key areas of teaching English as a foreign language and includes areas such as how to teach grammar, plan lesson and manage classes as well as covering career prospects in the EFL industry. Our aim with this course is to help you feel confident in the classroom and succeed in your TEFL/TESOL career.

We welcome applications from people whose first language is not English. Non native speakers should possess a high standard of both written and spoken Englishnglish.

Whether you are completely new to teaching or are already a teacher and wish to learn more about TEFL/TESOL methods, this certificate course is designed to be of practical use to you in the EFL classroom.

The course is graded by continuous assessment. There are short tasks and in-depth activities throughout the course with 2 exams, one in grammar and one final exam. A qualified TEFL tutor will mark your answers and is available if you require any further help. Your final award is graded on the following scale: A, B or Pass.

You will recieve the ISSO – International Student Services Org. and ILAC - International Language Academy of Canada certificate in TEFL/TESOL and written assessment which acts as a reference on successful completion.

Course Length :

We offer an intensive 4 week course and a semi intensive 7 week program. During the course you are expected to observe classes, plan and prepare for your new job as an English teacher.

Job Placement

ISSO – International Student Services Org. has been offering job placement services to the teachers that have successfully finished our TEFL teacher training program in Colombia. We have a network of institutions nationwide, where we can offer the services of the graduates of our program. So far we have been very successful in placing 80% of our participants from abroad in the last year. We assist them in the visa process by giving them advice on their contract, the institution, salary paid and what it is mandatory by law to their contracts. The majority of the institutions look for at least a one year contract. We can forecast to place 50% of the successful participants of the TEFL training in Colombia’s job market. Many of the trainees are being offered a job as they are taking the course.

Volunteer:
As part of our mission in Colombia, we have an alliance with the local YMCA offering free English lessons to kids that come from very poor areas of the city. This is an ongoing program that ISSO offers and volunteering at the YMCA is also another option that participants have available.

The Certificate:

Our program is registered and accreditted internationally. Be aware of institutions that are not!! We have an agreement with ILAC - International Language Academy of Canada and participants of our program in Colombia will recieve a TEFL/TESOL Certificate upon successful completion of the course. ILAC is registered and accredited by the Canadian Language Council, Canadian Assoc. of Private Language Schools, TEFL Board and The Colombian Ministry of Education. This makes your certificate valid worlwide.
