TEFL Courses in Costa Rica

International TEFL and TESOL Training:
International TEFL and TESOL Training (ITTT) offers a four-week TEFL certificate course in Manuel Antonio, located on the central Pacific coast of Costa Rica, just south of the city of Quepos in Puntarenas province, and 132 km from the national capital of San Jose. Our TEFL certification program provides participants with an internationally recognized certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. The course has a very practical emphasis and features a high proportion of actual teaching practice hours in the classroom.

- All TEFL International courses are externally validated and moderated by a Board of Academic Advisors (BOAA).

This board includes several internationally recognized experts in the field of English Teaching as well as dozens of local English School managers around the world. All applicants can be assured of the highest standards and quality, wherever and whenever they take our course.

- IATEFL: International TEFL and TESOL Training is an institutional member of IATEFL (the International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language).

- ITTT is an institutional member of the College of Teachers.

4-week TEFL Certificate Course:
The TEFL certification course has a very practical emphasis and features a high proportion of actual teaching practice hours in the classroom. Teachers are assessed on their understanding and practical application of the course content through teaching practice and the compilation of a teaching journal. These two are assessed separately but the final grade awarded amalgamates both sets of grades with a slight weighting towards teaching practice.

Sign up for any one of our TEFL International 4-week residential courses and receive an additional certificate course free of charge. You may choose from the following free courses: (a) Introduction to TEFL. (b) Teaching Business English. (c) Teaching English to Young Learners.

TEFL students who would like to learn some Spanish during their time in Costa Rica have the option of attending a Spanish language program either before or after your TEFL course. Language courses start most Mondays, and are available for two, four and eight weeks.

This TEFL course / language program offers you the opportunity to become TEFL qualified with an internationally recognized TEFL certificate and immerse yourself in the local culture, improving your language skills.

Our support department offers ALL graduates of our courses unlimited access to a range of services designed to help you improve and develop as a teacher, which include:

- Online lesson plans: Graduates of our courses will be able to download lesson plans and supporting materials and activities FREE of charge.
- Online support: Graduates of our courses will have online access to advice and help from TEFL professionals FREE of charge.

Manuel Antonio boasts a series of magnificent beaches that are the perfect place for studying alone or for just spending a day with new friends. Manuel Antonio's sister city Quepos provides a glimpse into traditional Costa Rican life and hospitality. Located just a few minutes from our campus, this small town can be easily explored on foot, and yet for its size, Quepos offers an astonishing assortment of international restaurants, as well as shops, Internet cafes, beaches, a farmer's market and a colorful nightlife.

We have a number of accommodation options available for students taking our TEFL course in Costa Rica, including homestay, private apartments, and hostels. The TEFL training centre in Costa Rica can arrange homestays with Costa Rican families for those students wishing to practice their Spanish while enrolled in the course.

Our homestay options are located in both Quepos and Manuel Antonio. The families have been pre-screened with breakfast, dinner, and laundry service provided. Please note that homestay accommodation should be secured at least one month prior to the course start date.
