With the exception of the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture, which offers vocational and professional programmes only, all of the nine faculties offer a mixture of formative degree and vocational certficate and diploma programmes, although the mix differs substantially across the faculties.
Some of the faculties offer predominantly formative degree programmes, while others offer predominantly vocational programmes.
One of the major advantages of comprehensivity is the opportunity it offers to students to articulate between formative and vocational programmes and therefore the opportunity it offers to the institution to curriculate creatively and to offer a variety of academic and career pathways.
All faculties offer both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
Equipped with meeting places, restaurants, cafeterias, recreational facilities and even shops for added convenience, some of our campuses are like independent villages in the city!
Some of our student centres house banks, bookshops, a medical doctor, hairdresser, giftshops, Postnet and a supermarket.
If you are looking for a special treat, the Auckland Park Bunting Road Campuses, where the newly built School for Tourism and Hospitality is located, is the place to be.
The ever so popular Bistro, Waterford Restaurant and other facilities double as training facilities for food and beverage management students.
The venue is magnificent and the food - whether a sarmie or slice of cake, the appealing buffet or fine dining - absolutely superb.
The University of Johannesburg has four campuses – the Auckland Park Kingsway, Auckland Park Bunting Road, Doornfontein and Soweto campuses – which are located in the metropolitan area of the City of Johannesburg.
The campuses vary in size and each of them has its own character and culture contributing to the institution's rich diversity. A comprehensive campus development plan has been framed to ensure the optimal utilisation of all campuses.
This directs the growth and development of five sites of higher education delivery, each unique in its academic programme profile and capacity, but all sharing the objective to offer high-quality university education.
