Located in New Plymouth, New Zealand, Pacific
International Hotel Management School (PIHMS),
under the guidance of the renowned International
Hotel and Tourism Training Institute (IHTTI) of
Neuchatel, Switzerland, produces graduates with
the right skills and experience to take up a job
in the industry anywhere throughout the world.
In the Swiss tradition, the campus works as a
hotel, giving students practical daily
experiences in all aspects of hotel operations.
Students wear appropriate uniforms and are
rostered for duties to experience being both a
guest and a staff member. Every day during the
18 months spent on campus, students take on both
operational and supervisory roles.
It is this critical blend of practical skills
and theoretical knowledge that will prepare
students to excel in this highly demanding
international industry. The two and half year
diploma course is divided into 5 semesters.
Semesters 1, 3, and 5 are spent at the School,
studying various aspects of hotel business and
operations. In semesters 2 and 4, students
obtain fully paid positions with the assistance
of the School in some of New Zealand’s top
establishments as well as overseas. Emphasis in
Year one is on Food and Beverage Management,
Year two places emphasis on Rooms Division
Management. The final semester, in Year three
places a strong emphasis on management and
business studies. Courses
