International Summer School for Teens:
International Summer School for Teens is an exclusive 3 week, residential summer program in Scotland in 2019, and is located on the University of Stirling campus (just 40 minutes from Edinburgh Airport and 45 minutes from Glasgow International Airport). We specialise in providing a personalised, safe, and friendly educational experience for students ages 12 to 17. We welcome participants of all levels from the UK, Europe, U.S., and around the world.

Students choose a subject from our academic classes which they will enrol in for the entire 3 week camp:

Beginner English Classes:
- Duration: 3 weeks. Suitable for beginner English speaking students
- Students must also choose one course from: Photography, Golf, Tennis, Sports Leadership, Theatre, or Creative Coding 

Designed for students at beginner level, this summer English course has been developed to significantly improve students language ability over the summer months.

Students work in small groups designed to build their confidence in all aspects of English Language including grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, speaking, listening, reading, writing and colloquial English. Students are encouraged to use their English language skills at all times.

Course features include:
• 36 classroom hours
• CELTA qualified English teachers
• Focus on building confidence in language skills through fun activities
• Full English immersion summer school
• Live and study with native speakers


Intermediate English / IELTS Preparation Course:
- Duration: 3 weeks. Suitable for beginner English speaking students
- Students must also choose one course from: Photography, Sports Leadership, Golf, Tennis, Theatre, or Creative Coding

Students will develop their presentation skills and also work on test taking strategies for future English language examinations.

Course topics include:
• Reading and comprehension
• Summary and synthesis of text
• Writing clearly and coherently
• Presenting information and ideas
• Communicating as a native speaker
• IELTS test taking

Students will also have the option of taking the IELTS exam whilst they are at the summer school. 


English Academic Writing Course:
- Duration: 3 weeks. Suitable for advanced level English students
- Students must also choose one elective course from: Sports Leadership, Tennis, Golf, Creative Coding, Photography or Theatre 


This course is designed for Advanced English students ages 12-17 who wish to perfect their writing skills for school reports and essays, or preparation for future studies at university or college. They will learn to communicate their ideas in written English accurately and effectively. As well as covering topics such as grammatical skills, sentence structure, and vocabulary, the course will also explore English literature and poetry.

Course topics include:
• Writing styles
• Essay and report writing

• Summarising a text
• Note taking
• Referencing/Library Work

Global Entrepreneurship / Youth Leadership Course:
- Duration: 3 weeks. Suitable for advanced / fluent English readers, writers and speakers
- Students must also choose one course from:

Environmental Science and Conservation Course:

• Duration: 3 weeks. Suitable for advanced / fluent English readers, writers and speakers
• Students must also choose one elective course from: Tennis, Golf, Sports Leadership, Creative Coding, Photography or Theatre


Covering a broad range of topics, this summer course is designed to introduce students to the main issues affecting biodiversity in the world today. We guarantee small class sizes. Each student gets a personalised assessment at the end of the course.

Introduction to Law Course:
- Duration: 3 weeks. Suitable for advanced / fluent English readers, writers and speakers
- Students must also choose one course from: Golf, Tennis, Photography, Theatre, or Creative Coding

This is an excellent course to provide students with important exposure to the legal process, and how it affects society. Students learn about the different types of legal theory, ranging from contract law to criminal law and civil procedure. 

Course topics include:
• The basics of legal theory and their real world application
• Different types of law
• Study human rights and surveillance law
• Learn how to present with confidence
• Mock trial to develop debating skills


Study Skills Course (Pre IB / Pre GSCE)
- Suitable for advanced English readers / writers and fluent English speaking students
- Students must also choose one course from: Golf, Tennis, Photography, Theatre, or Creative Coding 

Images of International Summer School for Teens• Our study skills class is specifically designed for students starting the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or GCSE exams after the summer, and prepares students for the workload and level of study that they can expect in the IB / GCSE curriculum during the school year. 

• Students will learn how to research, prepare for lectures, take part in debates, give oral presentations with confidence and construct a draft essay which will get them ready for the academic years which lie ahead.

Topics / subjects include:
• Note taking techniques
• Research skills including working in a Virtual Learning Environment
• How to structure and write an essay in an academic context
• Referencing
• How to analyse text and develop critical thinking skills
• Academic integrity
• Communicating your ideas articulately through debate and oral presentations
• Preparing for exams with confidence including tests such as SAT, ACT, IELTS and TOEFL
• Time management skills
• Intro to CAS (IB students) 


Sport / Creative Arts Course Options (in the afternoon)
Students also choose from a sporting or creative activity which they want to further develop over the summer months. These classes take place from 1pm – 4pm. 


Golf Summer Camp - Onsite golf course and driving range:
- Duration: 3 weeks. Beginner, Intermediate & Advanced options
- Must be combined with either English Language, Introduction to Law, Global Entrepreneurship, 
Environmental Studies and Conservation, or Pre-IB / Pre GCSE Study Skills. 

Students will work in small groups with enthusiastic PGA coaches to receive individual tuition in order to perfect their game but will also have the opportunity to play 9 and 18 hole courses in Scotland, the “Home of Golf.” 

Golf students will also visit St Andrews where they will see the famous Old Course and play a Links course. Advanced players also have the option of playing Gleneagles, which was host of the 2014 Ryder Cup.


Summer Tennis Camp:
- Duration: 3 weeks. Suitable for Beginner to Advanced Tennis Players
- Must be combined with one of the following courses: English Language, Global Entrepreneurship, Introduction to Law, 
Environmental Studies and Conservation, or Pre-IB /Pre GCSE Study Skills. 

Our tennis class develops fitness, strategy and teaches the finer, technical elements of the sport. We have access to six indoor and two outdoor clay courts which collectively comprise the Scottish Tennis Centre - where Wimbledon, U.S. Open and Olympic Champion, Andy Murray, proudly sharpened his skills.

Lessons cover tennis specific fitness such as balance, speed and strength as well as the more technical elements of the game including ground stroke, net play, footwork, serving, returning serves and strategy.

Coaches are all LTA qualified and lessons are carried out on first class tennis courts.

Topics / aspects covered include:
Balance, Footwork, Ground stroke, Net play, Returning serves, Serving, Speed, Strategy, Strength, Tennis specific fitness.


Sports Leadership Course Elective:
- Must be combined with an Academic study program:  English Language, Introduction to Law, Environmental Science and Conservation, Global Entrepreneurship, or Pre-IB / Pre GCSE Study Skills.

This leadership class is designed to help build and develop a student's self-confidence and positive leadership through sport and active outdoor activities. With access to quality indoor and outdoor sports facilities as well as breath-taking countryside, this programme provides a variety of fun, sporting opportunities for all levels.

Students work to develop their sport leadership skills through diligent teamwork, goal setting and effective communication.  The sports leadership course is well suited to those students who simply love playing sports but also fun-loving students who are keen to try something new and exciting.

Theatre / Drama Course:
- Duration: 3 weeks
- Must be combined with either English Language, 
Introduction to Law, Global Entrepreneurship, Environmental Studies and Conservation, Global Entrepreneurship, or Pre-IB / Pre GCSE Study Skills.

This class gives students insight into the theory behind theatre, as well as hands-on experience. Students work as a group to understand different types of theatre and how they apply to different cultures, contexts and periods of time.

It’s great for developing confidence and communication skills in students of all ages, levels and backgrounds.


Creative Coding / Programming Course:
- Duration: 3 weeks
- Must be combined with either English Language, 
Introduction to Law, Environmental Science and Conservation, Global Entrepreneurship, or Pre-IB / Pre GCSE Study Skills.

Creative Coding is an introductory class for students interested in computer science, mathematics and general science.

Students will learn the fundamentals of coding (programming), theory, language and animation. They will work on projects ranging from Game Design to App Development, gaining an understanding of STEM and future career opportunities.


Photography Course:

- Duration: 3 weeks
- Must be combined with either English Language, Introduction to Law, Environmental Studies and Conservation, Global Entrepreneurship, or Pre-IB / Pre GCSE Study Skills.

Our photography elective is ideal for anyone who wishes to improve their photography skills, and develop their knowledge of photography. Learn how to use your camera, and take amazing photographs.

• Photography composition and techniques
• Understand how to use your digital camera
• How to shoot in manual
• How to bring together the elements of manual mode to create an evocative image: shutter speed, aperture, and image composition
• Learn about exposure and why is it important
• How to recognize and take advantage of beautiful natural light
• How to choose the right gear, and develop efficient workflow
• Work on practical assignments and develop a mini portfolio
