Alexandra College:
Alexandra College in Dublin was founded in 1866 and has a long and distinguished history in the field of education for women. The College is under Church of Ireland management and the Archbishop of Dublin acts as Chairman of the Council, which is the governing body. The staff and student body comprises many nationalities and religious traditions which combine to give the College its unique ethos. We are proud of the educational opportunities and community spirit of Alexandra College and are eager to share it with you. Secondary School Curriculum, Transition Year Programme
The following subjects are offered to students attending Alexandra College.

Junior School
The Junior School caters for girls from four to twelve years of age. It is located in a separate building and is managed by its own head
teacher. Its philosophy is Froebelian - class numbers are small and provide scope for the young child to mature and find herself in a happy, communicative and open atmosphere. Residence Houses Accommodation for boarders is in two separate houses - Junior and Senior - in the College grounds.
While students are free to go home at weekends, supervised programmes, both educational and recreational, are provided for those remaining.
Transition Year
Students in Transition Year in Alexandra College study a wide variety of subjects. Core Subjects are taken by all students, including Irish, English, Mathematics, French, Science, Geography, History, Religious Education, Physical Education, World of Work, Education for Living, Careers, Citizenship or Choir.
Students make choices from a wide range of Options. These Options are arranged in Modules of nine weeks each and students may be able to study up to a total of 6 of these, including: Craft, Videography, Interior Design, Art Appreciation, Classics, Latin, Archaeology, Fine Art, Japanese (for beginners), IT Skills, IT Design (Web Design), Italian, Spanish, German, Technical Drawing, Desk-Top Publishing and Publicity and Stage Management.
Transition Year students also participate in a Performance Module culminating in two Performance Nights in mid-February. They choose from the following: Dance, Drama, Music, Videography, Coca Cola “Form and Fusion” and Design.
After the Performance Nights students select one of the following: Dance, Effective Communication, Guitar, Fashion Design, Music Technology, Music Appreciation, Photography and Digital Photography and Videography.
