St Columba's College: St. Columba’s College is one of Ireland’s leading secondary schools and is particularly specialised in the provision of a high-quality boarding education for its pupils. Founded in 1843, and combining the best of traditional and modern architecture, the College occupies nearly 150 acres in the foothills of the Dublin mountains, overlooking Dublin Bay. Although the grounds have a rural ‘feel’, the College is only seven miles from the city centre and 30 minutes from the airport and principal rail and bus stations.
As part of the full boarding experience, we expect all pupils to take part in a structured programme of regular sporting activities and exercise. While the demands on boys and girls approaching their Leaving Certificate may mean that their commitment to sport gradually diminishes, all pupils in the school can benefit from the wide range of team and individual sports. We are particularly strong in our conviction that children, and the school community at large, gain in many ways from taking part in team activities.
We are lucky to have ample space on our 140-acre campus for sports, and some of the best facilities of any school in Ireland. A superbly equipped Sports Centre opened in 1998, by the entrance drive. The large main hall is used for a variety of activities, including basketball, badminton, volleyball, indoor football and hockey, and winter cricket nets. Downstairs there is an aerobics room and changing rooms, and upstairs a fully-equipped fitness room. Elsewhere on the grounds are two astroturf hockey pitches (one floodlit), spacious rugby and cricket pitches, five outdoor tennis courts, an outdoor swimming pool, fine cross-country mountain runs, and the College’s own highly-regarded golf course.
All sports are run by senior members of the teaching staff, assisted by other teachers and also a range of professional coaches drawn from Dublin’s considerable sporting resources. Most sports are represented by College teams in Leinster provincial competitions, the main focus being on hockey, rugby and cross-country in the winter, and cricket and athletics in the summer.

Founded in 1973, Rathdown was built on the proud traditions of four original schools: The Hall School, Hillcourt School, Park House School and Glengara Park School.
Rathdown currently has around 600 girls enrolled - 400 in the Senior School and 200 in the Junior School. Class sizes rarely exceed 25, so it is possible to give individual attention and to develop the special abilities and interests of each student.
The school enjoys a superb location and setting. The 16 acre site is set back from the road on a hill overlooking the sea and with inland views of the Wicklow mountains.
Being a boarding school and welcoming students of all nationalities, helps to promote an awareness of cultural diversity in our community where mutual understanding and respect prevail.

Newtown School is located in Waterford City in the south east of Ireland. It was founded in 1798 by the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). The ideals of its founders still inspire the School which today educates boys and girls for life in the 21st century. Newtown School welcomes boarding and day students of all religious persuasions, and appreciates the contribution of all denominations to the school community.
Our desire is to foster a sense of caring for others and to communicate a set of values which reflects a balance between the material and the spiritual. In keeping with the Quaker tradition every individual is of value and has something to contribute. The School promotes these ideals and, while rules are kept to a minimum, high standards of behaviour are expected. Students are encouraged in a supportive and caring environment to fulfill these expectations.
