Our families are carefully chosen and regularly inspected so we know they will provide you with a warm, welcoming and caring home. The majority of our families are experienced hosts and have been looking after our students for many years. Just let us know any special requests at the time of booking and we will do our best to find a family to match your preferences.

Backpackers:

Low-cost budget accommodation usually in communal dormitories of 4 or 6 (some hostels provide single rooms at extra cost) with shared cooking, washing and laundry facilities.

Hotel:

If it's luxury accommodation you are after, then this option is for you! There is a wide range of hotels to choose from to suit the most discerning student. Most hotel prices do not include meals so you'll need to budget for this on top of the cost of the accommodation.

Top Ten Reasons to choose Dominion English School:

- Warm, friendly atmosphere. Both schools are large enough to offer up to 8 levels of English and small enough for everyone to be your friend. Students immediately feel at home.

- We are easy to find in downtown Auckland and Christchurch near bus transport, train stations, shops, restaurants and theatres. Close to ferry and water's edge in Auckland, near Cathedral in Christchurch.

- Students can transfer between schools. Long term students (24 weeks+) who book a transfer in advance receive free airline ticket return between schools.

- Ask to see our current nationality mix . Students come from over 20 different countries - we always have an interesting mix of students averaging out at 55% Asians and 45% Europeans.

- Both schools are modern and equipped with naturally lit classrooms (16 in Auckland, 12 in Christchurch). Each school has a student lounge, kitchen, library, computer lab, broadband wireless throughout, pool table, piano, and free tea and coffee all day.

- Dominion English Schools are registered and approved by NZQA. We are foundation members of English New Zealand. We are long-term members of Study Auckland and Education Christchurch. We are approved TOEIC testing centres. Our courses are recognised in Germany as Bildungsurlaub. We  are long-term members of the International Association of Language Centres (IALC) and WYSE.

- Dominion has sister schools in Sydney. Special offers are made for long-term students who transfer between schools.

- Our teachers are professional, dedicated native speakers and have earned the school an excellent reputation for our Cambridge preparation courses.

- A choice of excursions is offered every weekend. This gives students the opportunity to see much more of NZ and to socialise with their classmates away from school.

- Pastoral care begins at the airport pickup (available 24/7). Several  frequent checks and monitoring

Location:

Our Auckland school is located in a modern building in the centre of the city. We are just a few minutes from the Britomart transport terminal and only a short walk from bars, restaurants, shops, libraries and other city centre amenities.

Auckland is New Zealand's largest city and was recently voted as having the 5th highest standard of living in the world. Activities:

The Dominion cultural, social and sporting programme has been designed to enable you to meet New Zealanders and make the most of your time outside the classroom. Activities are arranged every afternoon, every weekend and after school. There is a social evening every Thursday and regular trips to the theatre, sporting events and restaurants.
