Our cl

asses are small – no more than 6 students – allowing teachers to focus on the individual needs of each student.
Important to developing Spanish language skills is having the opportunity to speak Spanish in a variety of settings in addition to and outside of the classroom. Therefore, a tandem conversation partner can be arranged for Spanish students. In addition to your classroom time, you and your tandem partner are going to converse in, both Spanish and your maternal language, not in the classroom, but by walking the city, in the market or a museum. There is no better way to apply and practice your Spanish skills while being immersed in the culture of Cusco. Best of all, the optional Tandem® is FREE to all ACUPARI students.
Beginner Spanish Courses:
ACUPARI’s beginner Spanish courses are intended for students who have very little or no Spanish. From the very first class, students are immersed into Spanish conversation. Speaking, listening and comprehension skills are emphasized. Students are introduced to Spanish with meaningful vocabulary that can be used from the start; grammatical structures including the present, basic future, and the past perfect tenses; and fun exercises. Students learn greetings, how to structure elementary phrases, and how to ask and answer simple questions. Through role-play of real life situations such as talking with friends, going to the grocery, travel agent, doctor, or making a phone call, students find that they are able to have brief conversations in Spanish right away.
Intermediate Spanish Courses:
ACUPARI’s intermediate Spanish courses are intended for students who already have a basic level of Spanish. During this course, vocabulary and conversation skills are broadened and become more indepth. Grammar skills are increased and students develop skills in learning to use the gerund, future, past, and conditional tenses, as well as other important grammatical points. Reading, writing, listening, comprehension, and pronunciation skills are emphasized. During the intermediate Spanish course students develop skills via role-play, reading of books and newspaper articles, and watching video segments. By the end of the intermediate Spanish course students are able to speak and listen to Spanish more spontaneously, independently, and with more confidence.
Advanced Spanish Courses:
ACUPARI’s advanced Spanish courses are designed for students who are looking to better or perfect their Spanish skills that are already at an intermediate or greater level. Students will move into more advanced verb tenses. Reading, writing, listening, and comprehension skills are fine-tuned. Pronunciation skills are refined. Students participate in various activities such as role-play, debates, expositions on varied topics, reading and video analysis, and indepth conversation to bring their Spanish level to fluency. By the end of the Advanced Spanish courses students will find that they can communicate in Spanish, even in complicated situations, with little or no difficulty.
Placement Test:
Whether a private or group class is to a student’s interest, all students are required to take a placement test. This is especially important to ensure that a student is placed in a class appropriate and comfortable to their level of proficiency. This is given on the first day of classes at 8:45AM, prior to the regular class hour. Students with absolutely no, or very little, Spanish are not required to take the test.
The Teachers:
To provide the highest quality in the classroom, our teaching team is made up of eight permanently employed Spanish teachers, who are highly qualified and undergo continuous training. In cooperation with the Argentinean Association of Spanish Teachers ACUPARI has financed an additional yearly qualification training that is a prerequisite for teaching at ACUPARI.
