Spanish Language Classes in Cusco, Peru

ACUPARI Language School -- immersion courses in Spanish, Quechua & German:
ACUPARI was founded October 10, 1990, as a non-profit cultural association whose objective is to promote and strengthen an intercultural dialogue between the plethora cultures that gather together in the city of Cusco. Cusco is the main tourist center of Peru, and greets travelers from all around the globe. ACUPARI offers prospective clients language courses in German, Spanish, and Quechua. As a complement to their language course, students can participate in Tandem® Conversation practice in which the foreigner is paired with a native Peruvian Spanish speaker so that each can practice the others language. As part of ACUPARI’s cross-cultural interchange, students participate in a variety of social and cultural activities and have the opportunity to contribute their time to several volunteer projects. ACUPARI also organizes cultural events with Peruvian and German artists and authors, as well as those from other cultures, in collaboration with other cultural institutions in the area.

Spanish Courses
ACUPARI offers all levels of Spanish courses, whether you are a beginner or already an advanced speaker. There are group or private classes at a standard level or a more intense level. We also offer specialized Spanish courses on an individual basis in such areas as business or medical Spanish. All of our courses immerse you, in Spanish conversation, so right from the beginning you are speaking Spanish. Whatever your need, at ACUPARI you will find your Spanish course. To enhance your Spanish immersion experience you can stay with a host family!

Quechua Courses
Quechua is primarily a spoken language and difficult to approach with traditional and academic methods. For this reason only part of ACUPARI Quechua classes take place in the classroom and only in one-on-one classes. Important is the conversation and being together with the Native Quechua speaker in their social environment. Our Quechua learners go with their teachers to visit markets and village communities to practice by direct communication. A prerequisite is good knowledge of Spanish.

A Tandem partner can also be arranged for Quechua students.

D.E.L.E Preparation
At Acupari you can prepare for all three levels of the DELE (Diplomas of Spanish as a Foreign Language) exams and diploma. The DELE is recognized by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport of Spain. Additional, the DELE diploma is an official certificate with an international reputation. They are recognized internationally by private companies, chambers of commerce and public and private educational systems.

The DELEs are divided into three levels depending on the language competence: beginner, intermediate, and superior.

Volunteer Programs
What better way is there to know a place, the people, and the culture then volunteering! After completing a minimum of two weeks of a Spanish Language course, students have the option of volunteering in one of various Peruvian organizations that are supported by ACUPARI. Volunteering is a valuable contribution to our community and offers the unique opportunity to live and work with native people and learn their culture first hand.

So no matter how brief the volunteer experience, one can make a difference. The volunteer will receive the gift of life long memories and a deep insight into the social and cultural reality. There are volunteer positions available, beginning with a minimum of 2 weeks up to 2 months or more…
