Educational Programs for Boys & Girls in Grades 6-12:
Kent Denver School is a college preparatory school with key subjects including English, fine arts, computer studies, math, social studies, science, foreign languages, AP and college prep courses. Middle School
The middle school community strives to attend to the needs and talents of each student. Through personalized attention and a broad curriculum specifically designed for the age level, faculty seek to foster ethical, responsible, creative, and empathetic behavior. Middle schoolers are expected to complete eighth grade able to meet new challenges and equipped with a strong academic foundation, enhanced self-esteem, and a commitment to the larger community. The middle school curriculum encompasses traditional and experiential offerings, the fine arts, community service, trips, and a participatory sports program.
The liberal arts program teaches one to think and to solve problems, to write and speak effectively, to work with people, and to gain a broad view of the world. Students receive individual help to guide them through the demanding curriculum. Requirements in the humanities, arts and sciences prepare students to approach both college and an uncertain future with a confident and creative spirit.
Upper School
A challenging academic program is at the heart of the upper school. Kent Denver strives to strike a balance between teaching fundamental literacies and encouraging students to follow their individual interests; between teaching skills and teaching material; between instilling habits of rigor and discipline, and inspiring whimsy and creativity. In general, students are allowed greater freedom and independence in their course selection as they mature—until, by senior year, the majority of their course of study is defined by their particular areas of strength or investment.
We seek to instill in our graduates an appreciation of ethnic, economic and religious differences; an understanding of other cultures; and a desire to help others. We welcome and seek students from all backgrounds. The ultimate goal is to help students see that learning is an exhilarating, cooperative enterprise to be continued throughout life.
College Counseling and Prep Courses:
At Kent Denver, college preparation begins the moment a student walks through our doors. We challenge our students and help them to grow intellectually, and we provide them with an array of activities, from the arts and athletics to clubs and service organizations, that encourage them to develop their interests and talents and pursue their passions.
We offer intensive prep courses for PSAT, ACT and SAT.
Advanced Placement Courses:
We offer 16 AP courses covering math, English, social studies, fine arts and science.
